August 30, 20231 yr comment_1714389 There is a rule though that if you do this you have to have the player on your active roster for 3 weeks or something like that? I am OK with the rule, gives guys opportunities
August 30, 20231 yr comment_1714398 Practice Squad update: Linky: https://www.bengals.com/news/roster-moves-practice-squad-2023-season The Bengals today made the following player moves: Signed the following 13 players to the practice squad (all were with the Bengals during training camp): DT Domenique Davis CB Allan George C Nate Gilliam DE Jeff Gunter LB Shaka Heyward TE Tanner Hudson WR Shedrick Jackson CB Sidney Jones IV G Jaxson Kirkland WR Kwamie Lassiter II WR Stanley Morgan LB Tyler Murray S Michael J. Thomas Also signed QB Will Grier to the practice squad. Grier (6-1, 220), a fifth-year player out of West Virginia University, originally was a third-round pick of Carolina in 2019. He spent his first two seasons (2019-20) with the Panthers, then spent the past two years ('21-22) as well as this preseason with Dallas. He started two regular-season games for Carolina in 2019, completing 28 of 52 passes for 228 yards. The Bengals' practice squad currently is two spots shy of the 16-player limit.
August 30, 20231 yr comment_1714401 ^ No need to fill up all 16 spots right now ... A little flexibility at 15 is useful.

I think instead there should be like 2 windows of time when it is allowed (say week 5 and week 10 only or something). As why should the Bengals develop players on their PS only to have some scrub ass team poach them at any moment, when they realize their roster is trash or have an injury etc? Look at it from the players’ perspective. I’m sure they want every chance they can to make it onto some team’s 53…and the bigger paycheck.
August 30, 20231 yr comment_1714415 Grier about signing with Cincinnati.... Linky: https://twitter.com/Trags/status/1696976884448236029?t=78q9lcVCNGbPMycLfYSdVw&s=19
August 30, 20231 yr comment_1714418 PS isn't a bad gig for players who aren't quite good enough to make a 53 in August. They get paid to practice, don't take shots in games, and have a decent chance of being activated when someone inevitably gets hurt.

Almost $200K for a 20-something guy, and potential to get some game checks too. EDIT - It's actually 18 weeks... that's $216K. Nice.

August 30, 20231 yr comment_1714450 Senile Jerry's Cowbitches gave up this guy for Mr. Bust Trey Lance 😵 ... (Highlights from his last game)
August 30, 20231 yr comment_1714452 I think Dallas was afraid to keep Grier because the other players were probably noticing in practice that he was better than Dak.

Sometimes the NFL wants so much competitive balance that they reward mediocrity and generate a bunch of parity of teams that suck. Because truly they want nothing of the sort. They're about maximizing profits.
