I'm over it!  Micah Parsons is just as good of a player on defense as Chase is on our offense.  He's fully participated

all through training camp and preseason and not a peep AND with Lamb just re-upping, (after his 4th season I might add),

and Dak Prescott guaranteed FA next year unless he's re-signed this year, he could hold the Cowboy's and Jerry Jones over a

barrel WORSE than Chase can us!  Yet he's not.

I’m hoping they work this out last minute, but I don’t know.  Chase certainly stands for his principles, so who knows. I just hope Old Man Brown doesn’t get all pissed off and dig in his heels.  Work something out to the benefit of both team and player.

mike brown hasnt been a part of negotiations in a decade. he's said it, players have said it, the team has said it. why do people keep pretending he is doing anything with that?

Everything bad is Mike's fault because otherwise the new regime have faults of their own. Convenient scapegoat.

Why is Chase "standing for his principles" but "Old man Brown (would) get all pissed off and dig in his heels"?

I'm pretty critical of the Bengals FO at times but I'm 100% with them on this one. Let him sit.

lol exactly.

mike brown is fucking 90 years old. but i guess he is lead negotiator with agents day in and day out. Mike himself, Katie, Troy, The Bengals, Whitworth, all just lying about it to the media for 10 years...

90 year old Mike is running the numbers on his casio calulator in his office.

I think he sits out until he's extended, even all year if necessary.

So really the question should be: When do the Bengals extend Chase?

Just me, but if he does that, then I'd finish the year with him per contract obligation, then trade him because he failed his teammates for x# of weeks until he came in.

But I don't think he stays out very long.

Sure Katie does the negotiating and she presumably won't offer something her dad would reject, but Mike Brown is the decider. He's the team owner and controller of the family trust. He said at the preseason luncheon that the team would bend over backward to sign Ja'Marr. But that doesn't mean he won't resist an overpay.

... Then Mike better get out the fucking yoga mat and get limber, because some of us fans have already checked hotel prices for New Orleans in February.

Do like Amish does every year: books a hotel in the city where the SB is in the spring. If the Bengals don’t make it, cancel the room (as long as they have a pay-nothing cancellation policy.

F it. Let him sit out. Or trade him for hella draft picks.  He's the best Bengal ever but dam I mean you can't build a team with a super high paid dude. No matter how good he is they still need 50+ other brothers out there. Talk about greed and inflation. NFL players pushing up costs of everything.   lol j/k

Side note. No way I give Burrow that contract. I'm firmly of the belief that QB is the new RB position. The younger the better. Three to four years max then move on to the next.

... Did you mean to say Chase and WR position instead? Because if you are saying we shouldn't have signed Burrow, and let him walk, that's insane

I have heard Brown say he isn’t involved in the day to day operations of the team, but when it comes to big decisions I don’t believe for a second he is not involved.  He still speaks for the organization, as he did when he said the Bengals would “bend over backwards” for Chase. Brown is involved when he wants to be involved.

I am not blaming Brown for anything at this point.  Brown has gotten emotional at times in the past and I don’t want to see that happen here.

If this is all as you say, why is Brown still officially the GM of the Bengals?   Why does he still give the “state of the team” address every camp

like he always has.  I’ve listened to him.  He’s old, but he’s not eating pudding.  He knows what’s going on and when it comes to making large changes in the way the Bengals do business you know damn well he is having a say.
