His kind are few and far between

He's not only a great weapon in the offense

, he's shown ability to block as well

He plays hard.

Takes so much pressure off the Great Chase and a huge target for aJB..

Bengals could average 30 per game with the pieces in place

I’m surprised that linebacker is higher than OL. Have there been any high profile LBs signed recently that would jack that number so high?

May be his perception in public..class act

Aside from that I believe Joe and JMarr truly love him as a friend.

That speaks volumes as well

The only way a trade makes sense is if they give you a 1st and 2nd Rd pick.

If just a 1st rder, it means you are getting a 30%-50%? chance at finding another Tee who is cheaper. Not that great of a deal.

It's hard to find another Tee Higgins (top 10 WR in the NFL) even in the first round. For every Justin Jefferson there is a John Ross.

Remember when Jalen Raegor was selected the pick in front of Justin Jefferson?

I would be open to dealing Tee for a DL player straight up, like Dexter Lawrence or Myles Garrett.

But the Giants or Browns wouldn't take that deal.

Browns would want more than Tee for Garrett. Tee for Lawrence makes sense if the Giants take a rookie QB and need to prop him up. At the moment, they have Nabers and not much else. I'd make that deal as the Bengals but we'd probably have to use pick 17 on Egbuka or Burden.

It's because of the 3-4 edge rushers like TJ Watt.

Is that number skewed by "Linebackers" like JJ Watt?? 3-4 pass rushers?

Top 5 contracts for "true" linebackers.... Doesn't get close to $27M.

Roquan Smith, Baltimore Ravens | AAV: $20 Million
Fred Warner, San Francisco 49ers | AAV: $19 Million
Tremaine Edmunds, Chicago Bears | AAV: $18 Million
Matt Milano, Buffalo Bills | AAV: $14.1 Million
Patrick Queen, Pittsburgh Stealers | AAV: $13.6 Million

Yes, that's exactly the issue.  The 3-4 Edge rushers are counted as "linebackers" so they screw up the tag numbers for traditional linebackers.

Think they will keep trying to draft his replacement instead of paying him long term

McMillan is a similar player to Tee but he won't be available at 17. There are some other large receivers in the draft but they are unlikely to turn into good replacements for Tee. I'd certainly rather give Tee his 27 mil per year than spend it on Rankins and Hubbard.

Still a possibility of long term deal..

They've offered what they're willing to go and apparently Tees agent wasn't satisfied.

Negotiations continue ..

Why? Is it back to the “he’ll hold out” or “tag and trade” fantasy again?

The inability to sign core players to contract extensions affects the entire team in a negative way. No way to prove it but if the Bengals had been able (willing?) to sign Chase to an extension before the start of last season, I firmly believe they win the home opener against New England and make the playoffs. Every player on the roster are aware of the Bengals front office reputation around the NFL. This isn't just about extending Higgins, it's also about changing the narrative the Bengals have dogging them every year.

Strong quote sir

Their inability may lye in the guaranteed money.

The team is with 4 bil plus on paper.

The guaranteed money in their payroll accounts lacks many teams to reach agreements.

They'll sign Chase , roll with Tee this yr at 26 mil ,and

see what's happens offensive wise.

Improve the amount interior and the team could average 30 pts per.

Golden's job is to take that total and give up less per.

Exciting season about to unfold..

If Tee isn't extended before the draft, then WR is back on the list of needs.

i dont think it is... seems like a farse to seem like we require two top wr weapons with joe at QB. the problems occur when the Wr is out at the last second fucking the week of prep and gameplan. we are arguably the best WR in the sport and possibly the best QB in the sport, needing more weapons is a big wild.

Id say signing Mike G would be a requirement at that point, but spending high draft captial especially in a WR poor draft, is a bad plan and an unnecessary one. IMO

that sure is a strange way of saying "if chase wasnt a fucking asshole and holding out with two fucking years left on his deal, even holding the team hostage until the MORNING of the game, they could have won..."
