The real question is how long to antibodies from illness or vaccination last? Initial info looks like 3-6 months in most people. The vaccine and/or having had Covid before are great at reducing the symptoms of the new Delta variant. The anti bodies are doing their job. . The problem is you still come up positive on a Covid test and you can still spread it. The unvaccinated who have not had Covid are the ones ending up in hospitals.

August 12, 20213 yr comment_1641945 None of the vaccines prevent anyone from not getting it completely, it may reduce you chances dramatically as we are seeing very few breakthrough cases (although they do exist) overall, what the vaccines do is prevent you from ending up in the hospital or dying if you do get it.
August 12, 20213 yr comment_1641947 Why wear a seat belt, really? You can still get hurt when you wear one... I mean, really. Good fucking grief.
August 12, 20213 yr comment_1641949 Because potentially getting hurt is better than being thrown from your car and likely dying? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (Was there supposed to be a ninja?)

Kinda the point I was making, Jamie, yes. People wear seatbelts because it's fucking safer to wear a seatbelt, not because it doesn't make you 100% safe. The people crying about how the vaxes don't mean you will completely avoid covid so why get a vaccine are just pure morons.
August 12, 20213 yr Author comment_1641951 NFL policy isn't based on severity of infection. Lamar Jackson had covid last year (or more accurately tested positive for covid last year). He tested positive again this year in training camp. In neither case was he in serious jeopardy but since the league thought he was contagious, he was quarantined.

August 12, 20213 yr comment_1641963 https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/rashod-bateman-injury-ravens-first-rounder-will-undergo-groin-surgery-official-timetable-set-for-return/ Rashod Bateman injury: Ravens first-rounder will undergo groin surgery, official timetable set for return As it stands, it's been one step forward and one step back for the Baltimore Ravens in training camp. They're ecstatic to have former league MVP Lamar Jackson back from the COVID/Reserve list after his second bout with the disease, but he may have to wait to build chemistry with Rashod Bateman, the team's rookie first-round pick. Bateman injured his groin during Tuesday's practice. The injury occurred in one-on-one drills against veteran cornerback Marcus Peters, when Bateman made a cut on a route and then went down in noticeable pain. Head coach John Harbaugh later confirmed the injury on Wednesday, specifically saying it's a soft tissue ailment that will force him to miss "a number of weeks." "He's got a soft tissue leg issue," Harbaugh told reporters on Wednesday. "That's going to be weeks. It'll be a number of weeks. So, I don't know how many. It's not going to be months, but it will be weeks and we'll see where we're at." On Thursday, the news got a bit more grim, but also came attached with a positive prognosis. "He's actually getting surgery, either today or Friday, on his groin," said Harbaugh before setting a timetable that isn't too far off into the future. "He'll be back sometime in September, so that's pretty good news." "Add to this the absence of Marquise "Hollywood" Brown (another former first-round pick) with a hamstring injury the team says "turned out to be worse" than they initially thought -- per Harbaugh -- and the veteran wideout will be "out until he's back". With Bateman and Brown set to miss time, the onus will be a player like Miles Boykin to step up, a third-year receiver who's amassed just 464 combined receiving yards in his first two years with the club -- in 24 starts -- and newly signed free agent Sammy Watkins; who signed a one-year, $6 million deal with Baltimore in April. Bateman was the 27th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and is a former All-Big Ten talent who also won honors as the Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year in 2019 for his work at Minnesota.
August 12, 20213 yr comment_1641965 I am still marveling that he is having surgery but the Ravens are sure he will be back next month. I guess i will file that under "we shall see".

One of the guys we speculated about in one form or another as a Bengal. Sometimes you get the bear and in this case the bear's name is Ja'marr.

August 19, 20213 yr comment_1642466 Brutal. But also, when analysts were hammering Cincinnati for not going max to keep him from FA and then hammered them for Hendrickson...they sure did gloss over Lawson having the ACL tears in 2014 in college and in 2018 w/ the Bengals. I mean, it was a bit of a medical red flag to chew over...

August 19, 20213 yr comment_1642468 It sounds like it's Lawson's Achilles they are concerned about. From initial reports, based on the reaction of players and staff, it doesn't sound good. That sucks. Wishing the guy well.

Another lineman some of us were intrigued by - Walker Little - looked like a stud in their preseason game at times when I was watching, and apparently the talking heads agree.

August 24, 20213 yr comment_1642841 Man Trevor Lawrence looks gawd-awful. Let’s see what the national media has to say about that. Likely not much I’m gonna say. Btw, Lawrence and Urban are a terrible fit, IMO. A guy like Taysom Hill would have been a much better fit there. They should have done whatever it took to acquire Hill (within reason) and then traded that number one pick for a kings ransoms. They would be much much further along than they are right now, IMO.
