Keeping our enemies close: 2023

Recommended Posts

Coming into today's game, Andy Dalton needs only 2100 passing yards to pass Johnny Unitas on the career yardage list, and 2400 to catch Joe Montana.

Dalton is only in his 13th season, 5 fewer than Unitas and 3 fewer than Montana.

21 Kerry Collins 40,922 1995-2011 (17 seasons)
22 Joe Montana 40,551 1979-1994 (16)
23 Johnny Unitas 40,239 1956-1973 (18)
24 Andy Dalton 38,150 2011-2023 (13)
25 Dave Krieg 38,147 1980-1998 (19)

Game 3 and I'm rooting for Jake Browning to lead the team to a win.

Andy today: 34/58 361 2-0

22 Joe Montana 40,551 1979-1994 (16)

23 Johnny Unitas 40,239 1956-1973 (18)

24 Andy Dalton 38,511 2011-2023 (13)

25 Dave Krieg 38,147 1980-1998 (19)

1,728 to Unitas

2,040 to Montana

Not that he's gonna get 361 every week, but if he does he'll catch em both in 6 games.

I'm surprised each and every time the NFL gets this stuff right. They're not exactly consistent.

It's still smoke and mirrors. Perpetrators of cheap shots gain a competitive edge on the field by physically harming their opponents to varying degrees.  Fines off the field do nothing to offset that advantage. Ejection from games, suspensions, or on field penalties would be meaningful punishment. Multi-millionaires digging $20,000 worth of change out of their couch is a joke.

That's true. Ejections are incredibly rare, mostly the result of stupid slap-fighting and probably not even the instigator.

Then they'll ignore targeting someone like Chubb and putting him out for the season, at best.  He may never be the same player and it didn't cost them anything AFAIK.

Jets to sign QB Trevor Siemian to practice squad

He was most recently in a training camp battle for the backup job with the Cincinnati Bengals but lost out to Jake Browning.

Hmmmm...I kinda assumed someone had already signed him...interesting that the Bengals brought back Sinnett instead of Siemian when they had the chance.

Did you see Siemian play in the preseason...I think it's interesting that any team signed him especially the Jets who actually need help at QB. Siemian is washed up, the Jets would have been better off signing Carson Wentz or Colin K.

Dalton ranks 80th with a 7.1 ypa

Unitas ranks 11th at 7.8 ypa..

Big difference..

JB currently at 7.5

Talk about grasping at finding a QB.

Jet's have hit rock bottom.

Apparently Kaepernick agrees with you.
