  1. The one constant, in 50 years of sucking, has been the Owners. Scientifically speaking, we have changed all of the other variables. Are some of you still chalking that up to some kind of luck?? Someone convinced you that Katie was the milkman's kid? That she's not an acorn that didn't fall far from Mike Brown's saggy nutsack? Have I ever told you the definition of insanity?? If you've been a long time fan, I can't believe that you're not thinking "One year we'll get lucky". C'mon. You don't really think that the Bengals ownership has a cohesive plan for long term success. I mean, they pretty openly tell us that they have an excellent plan for long term mediocrity by the way they pursue FA's and do contracts. Saving up their pennies for a rainy day. Joe Burrow has a sperm that looks promising, so we're saving for 2056 when we have to extend him. Sorry... Got to look for those second tier free agents that are a value again this year. We don't want to be foolish and spend too much for top caliber proven talent. Here's a former first round bust who looks promising!!! We are a team run by bean counters. They'd rather do things their way than be one of those successful owners who back loads contracts to keep talent when you have two generational talents on their rookie contracts. They'd hate to eat any dead money when the window is closed. Can't give up those draft picks. They hire discount coaches, and their personalities are enough of a turn off to deter most guys with better prospects. How long did it take for Carson to go from being mentioned in the same breath as Peyton to realizing he was never going to win here?? How many of the Andy/AJ years could have been a little more productive? Do I need to go back in time to the dumbest decision ever made by a football GM? Drafting Akili Smith. Do you know that GM still has his job to this very day?? I mean, crap, you'd think something like that would get a guy fired. Well, other than Dick LeBeau. Crazy bro. The Bengals ceased to be a Drama back in the 90's. This show is a "Carter Country"/"Tommy Boy" type Comedy. Mike Brown is WKRP's Arthur Carlson. Only... In the real world, the evil billionaires do win. The guys who break rules they haven't written yet. Way too effin' much for my liking. So, I root for my underdog Bengals to finally roll enough 20's to one day critical hit their way to glory... But I am under no illusion that this ship is helmed by a competent captain. They are blind squirrels who are still trying to find a nut, and they've been handed dozens of them. It's so cute. The NFL keeps going "OK, here's a #1 QB, go ahead and hold onto that..." and Mike Brown keep letting it slip through his fingers. And I keep rooting for him to finally hold on to the nut. Go blind squirrel! Hear them Bengals growling, fiscally responsible We don't have dead money, it's unconscionable On contracts we're tough, we don't pay enough And our practice dome's a High School's Cincinnati Bengals, give a cheer for their solvency Frugal Bengals, keep that cap space that you hoard To pay some guy in 20 33!!!
  2. With the Evil Empire losing yesterday, the world is once again safe from a Yinzerpocalypse so I can safely take down my Bengal Tree today. Thought I'd snap a few photos before it all gets boxed until next season. I'm posting from my phone so if these photos are YUGE I'll fix it from my laptop later today. Tree (nighttime/ daylight): . Closeup of some ornaments: After getting engaged in '04, my future ex wife signed me up to get the annual Danbury Mint Bengals ornaments. 2004 was the first and I currently have all 21 in the series. Here they are arranged chronologically, oldest in the upper left, newest in the lower right: Zooming in, in case anyone else is a collector and want to see the one or two they may not have: Gonna stop adding photos now, in case I run afoul of a MB limit.....
  3. Herbert really deserves a lot of credit. He easily could've wet the bed and ruined the whole game. And no one here would've been surprised. Only the second game in his career with a significant amount of PT. This game he played every snap. I did see one play where he caught the ball and kinda looked scared and got tackled just short of a first down. He just didn't cut up the field quick enough. He kinda skidder bobbed around like 'oh shit I got the ball" He deserves a ton of credit for not only avoiding catastrophe but actually playing a dam good game. He was interviewed on Bengals radio before the game. Very down to Earth young man. Pretty cool guy. When he played for the Bears he was still working part time to make extra money. So I thought that was really cool.
  4. You're right, it's no one's fault and we are wrong to think anything should change. 100% bad luck. 🙄
  5. Lookit, you don't know shit about shit. I'm gonna say it plainly: You Are A Fascist. Not in the doctrinal sense, but in the fawning, illiterate, and immoral sense. You are not the guy who thought up the SS, you are the type of bestial excuse for a human that joins the SS. You think your voice matters. It does not. You are an enemy of the human species.
  6. I think he's the guy we all, or at least most of us, want to see get his act together, grow up and be a productive member of this team.
  7. I won’t waste your time trying to make excuses…there are none. Instead I’ll just offer up my apologies for the way I talked to some of you. It was immature and unnecessary and I’m sorry.
  8. I want to give a shout out to the players who played today with injuries. Orlando Brown’s been playing on a bad leg. Tee Higgins has been playing on a bad ankle. Cody Ford played on a bad ankle and came back after a chest injury. Amarius Mims came in for a spell with a broken hand. These players all knew how important this game was and stepped up. Kudos to them.
  9. It's a good chance to get some younger guys into the lineup. Just... Who?? Burton? Everyone else who shows promise is injured or already playing. Honestly, the next few weeks should involve some serious soul searching for Zac and Katie. I have a feeling Katie is still more focused on the special glazed ham she ordered for Christmas. It's not she has to worry about losing her job. Carson, Andy, now Joe. Different coaches. What else needs to change? Is the "plan" you've been following for 50 years to ensure sustained success leading to sustained success? Is your old school management of the cap avoiding the boom and bust cycle - wasn't that the point?? Their major achievement has been to be bad enough to get the consensus #1 QB, and the consensus #1 WR two years in a row... By sucking. To be in a position to draft Carson, Joe... Granted, I'm not feeling generous right now... But what plan has been articulated other than keep the status quo and hope our luck changes? Anyone?? Did I miss a press conference? Sit 'em, start 'em. IDGAF. Hell, you might as well start 'em, because when their playing days are done the only thing they'll have is their stats. The Titanic is sinking, and the band plays on. It was just a few bad calls, a bad hold here or there. We picked the wrong leftovers out of the FA fridge and got food poisoning... Claiming the Bengals have a plan is as bonkers as claiming you have a strategy for lottery scratch offs. Even Moses was only lost in the desert for 40 years. This isn't a coach problem, this isn't a player problem... The fish rots from the head down. Mike Brown was always Mike Brown no matter who the coach was, and we now have a large enough sample size to know that Katie is cut from the same cloth. The hope that someday Mike Brown would turn the team over to a competent heir is dead. My honest hope now is that the rising financial obligations of being an NFL owner will force the Browns to seek external funding - and external accountability. As long as the Bengals function as their own insular fiefdom, the Brown/Blackburn autocracy will be free to Farquad it up as much as they like. I will cheer the day they sell the team. I will kiss strangers. Until then... Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky again. Let's pray some prominent DC gets a DUI over Christmas and needs a place to redeem himself. Maybe we can blind squirrel a few good FA's this time around.
  10. I know everyone is pissed, but you all need to chill. No fucking threats towards other members. I am happy to give you time off.
  11. Burton, this is not what the team had in mind when they said you'd "play the slot"
  12. People speak of their team with great hyperbole and emotion in the heat of the moment during games. Oddly enough, it’s therapeutic. I personally consider your “attacks” on many of those posts hours later as both rude and very disingenuous. But maybe that’s just me.
  13. The defense hald a 'players only' meeting this week to address the bad play. I heard the safeties were late to the meeting.
  14. He's going to play the part of Tua's concussion during walk-throughs
  15. It certainly puts a twist one the ol' "You'll always get a fair deal from Mike Brown" narrative that the Front Office is so fond of. Reporting says they leveraged that to make verbal assurances to Trey that they are now not living up to. It's your choice to believe either side on that. Trey has produced 17.5 sacks two years in a row. And he managed that playing with some real stiffs last year. His play is going to magically fall off some cliff? Pay the man and lock him up for a few years. This isn't rocket surgery. If he was a free agent we'd be screaming to get him. There's a lot of emotional appeals... He already makes too much money. But as pointed out, you're just arguing for the Family to keep it. There's no "If we sign Trey we can't X." involved here. They don't just give players money... They earn it. If no one would play football for the Bengals, do you know how much money that club would be worth? Are people going to show up on Sunday to watch Katie balance her checkbook? Watch her daughters play touch football? And the strike proved that people weren't interested in watching scrubs play lower quality football. You put your butts in those seats and buy those overpriced beers because guys like Trey Hendrickson go out and beat the shit out of each other for your amusement. They earn that money and enough on top of it to make Mike and Katie rich as well. There's no charity involved. Those players are the draw that gets TV contracts signed. "He made a deal and he should honor it." Well, unless you choose to believe Trey is lying, he took anther "prove it" raise with guarantees that he would get his deal reworked in his last year as is standard practice for star players. As he said, he's tired of having to ask for more money every single year. But he has, to his mind, honored the deal. He let the Bengals figure out how to get Chase and Higgins signed, and relied on their promise that he'd be taken care of. What more can you ask of the guy? Sounds to me like exactly what you want out of a "team" guy. You're MAD at him for now expecting the verbal agreement to be honored? Mild glee that he's been played for a sucker? "He's made a ton of money already, but he can't afford to not play for 60% off this year either." I mean... OK. And... It's not like he didn't produce last year. It's not like he hasn't been consistent. He's been durable as fuck. Does Trey strike you as the kind of guy to blow his signing bonus in Vegas on cocaine and hookers? Sure, he has a personality that is off-putting to anyone to the left of Mike Johnson... He looks like Jethro BoDean... But he's also probably the toughest guy in Letterkenny. So what if he looks like an oversized Boy Scout. He seems like a good dude. He probably stops and helps strangers change tires. I bet he even steps out of the shower to take a piss. Trey Hendrickson seems like exactly the kind of guy you want on your football team. I'm really shocked that there's such vitriol over giving money we have and can't use to a guy who put in the work and earned it. To the guy who has one of OUR D-Linemen in the "Best in the league" conversation. Why? Because he wasn't a first round pick? Because once he got to the league he had to work to be good? Is it really just the contract drama that the Family has put him through every year? Because he acquiesced before and didn't hold out when they wouldn't offer him a long term deal? Bad Trey for signing that deal and playing for us! I guess... whatevs? Mr. Jesus wants me to have a raise is just a liar and master media manipulator. And he should definitely suit up for us. But he sucks anyway. But how dare he not honor his contract and play for us! I just don't get it. Did Trey insult someone's Mom or something?
  16. Ok, I have been doing this for 21 years now. You know the rules. Format: screen name - player name - tie breaker for example: Jason - Jihad Campbell - 95 Your guess will not count until it is in that format and is not protected from book ending until it is. Player's full name unless they go by their initials, but spelling doesn't count. No book ending Tie Breaker: pick number for Lathan Ransom Once you make your guess you will have some time to change it. But once it is entered in this post it is set. You must be a member of this board as of 8:45 am Saturday April 12 and a Bengals fan. Prize is any ONE ITEM up to $50 from the Bengals.com store. Contest closes for guesses at 8 pm Sunday April 20. 17. Duke: "Best I can do is Cam Sample."
  18. Well aware. He was down there with his parents and some of his friends. Have you ever been? Plenty of things to do down there besides talking to the press. He wanted to talk to every talking head in town. So he did.
  19. The only good thing about drafting poorly for so many years is that you don't have to worry about extending a bunch of guys. But you absolutely have to extend the few draft choices that prove worthy of a big second contract. Tee is one of those few to work out well - pay the man.
  20. I found it. It’s a little grainy.
  21. Mahomes is a whiny flopping bitch. He's not even 75% of the QB that Burrow is.
  22. Nope. We act the games out and root accordingly.
  23. I'm really glad it's stools v rats in the first round. Whoever loses it's gonna be hilarious
  24. Any amount is too much for a bad player. FA's are inherently riskier than signing guys you already know that already work in your system. You know who isn't on those lists... Madibuke who signed a 4 year $100M deal that was too rich for us to consider in the offseason. Chris Jones, who signed a 5 year $159M contract last year. Creed Humphrey who was extended for 4 years, $72M. Roquan Smith - 5 years $100M. I'll say it again for the folks in the back - There is PLENTY of money to sign Tee. It's not even a question, really. They could franchise him again and still have $44M in cap room. (Meanwhile we could have signed Madibuke and Smith for a combined $17M against the cap if we followed Baltimore's contract structure.) You can still go get Chase Young and Jeff Odukah with that. DT is thin enough this year that Hill might be the best available. Some of you are so gaslit by Katie giving you her mean girl stare you're still buying into the completely laughable narrative that they either don't have the money, or would use it more wisely than getting pretty much the #1 Free Agent in next year's class. Like they'll be willing to open up the pocketbook for some FA worth signing to begin with. Sure we might find an under appreciated gem like Hendrickson, but we've seen a lot more La'el Collins and Sheldon Rankins than your typical insurer would like. But you can pretty much look at the top two FA's at most positions and know that's not who the Bengals are going to get. C'mon. Are you new here? You think they're going to spend $26M in any way other than passing out some 2 year "prove it" deals to guys like Stone and Rankins? Get those two cap hits in the $22M combined range with a contract like the Vikes gave Jefferson... You have Tee Higgins signed and $70M in cap space. You can have any FA you want. (With no cuts except Rankins) https://www.pff.com/news/2025-nfl-free-agency-primer-top-10-free-agents-at-every-position If we DON'T sign Tee, we still have to use a high draft pick on a receiver... I'd rather keep a younger Tee Higgins and pick up line help in the draft than sign a 30 year old Reddick. BJ Hill is the 3rd best DT available! Is DJ Reed going to break the bank?? Sign them both, make your FA moves, and then extend Hendrickson with most of the hit coming in 2025 (roster/workout bonus) to eat up leftover space. This isn't rocket science. It comes down to how good our GM is. Thanks to Katie's responsible cap management, we're in an excellent position. A 28 year old Joe Burrow is the time to f***ing use the cap space.
  25. Hey hey hey, no questioning Bob here, he got frostbite tonight for this win. Bob, proceed.
  26. Joe Burrow doesn't have time for your post game interview. He has to get up early tomorrow for the volunteer work he does teaching polar bears how to be cool.
  27. Yes, SOMEHOW. You act as if the Patriots didn't have to deal with some key player attrition coming into the season opener. They had just traded their best defensive player Matthew Judon for future draft picks, had some key offensive line injuries...and were 4-13 last season and coming into their road opener with a new QB. Yeah, I'm sorry that Higgins missed the game with a late injury, but otherwise the team was as healthy as it has been all season. All of their defensive starters were healthy and ready to go. And yet the Bengals played like hot garbage in front of their fans. Sometimes you have to overcome injuries if you want to win games. The Detroit Lions have 22 players on IR (including some of their absolute studs). So all of that injury attrition surely must be crippling their season, right? They are 13-2 on the year. So they have SOMEHOW kept on keeping on despite it all. No wonder the Lions head coach is so giddy happy with his team right now. They have overcome it all up to this point. I would cut the Bengals more slack for losing another horrific season opener if it wasn't the same thing almost every year. Week One counts just as much as the games at the end of the season.
  28. "Other teams caps", do you even know what you're asking? I told you I looked at other teams' complete breakdown, are you skipping paragraphs? lol Of course we know the answer, you are being willfully obtuse to beat up on the army of strawmen you've built in your response, so I'll break that down. Claim #1: Other teams DO NOT find a way to spread it out. Noted. Claim #2: Word "magic" used, word "worth" used, none of which were mentioned by me. Noted. Claim #3: Word "pretend" used. Noted. Claim #4: Word "fake" used. Noted. Assertion #1: "... they can cut for a prorated bonus hit of 16 mil"... "fake years they will never pay"... Granted. It seems you're arguing my use of the word "spreading" without disproving a "spreading" at all. That's unfortunate. In case anyone is wondering, he's conflating AAV, bonus, cap hit and "worth" to all mean whatever he wants it to mean, when they actually mean very specific things. That's also unfortunate. Claim #5: "that's magic!". Your words, 100%, not mine at all. If you read my post, you'd note that I said what are other teams are DOING, not what they're "magicking". Reading is important, and understanding is too. Here's the line, I'll put it right here: "The story is told in the breakdown, and comparing that breakdown to how consistently successful teams are doing it." Claim #6: "they fucked themselves later to MAKE ROOM NOW". A complete guess of a future event, which is meaningless to what I'm talking about, which is winning NOW. Oh look they can make room NOW, oh ok, so we agree? I guess? Claim #7: "it fucks the player and it fucks the team". Well I guess a whole metric fuck-ton of star players enjoy "fucking themselves" huh? That must suck. It also must suck when these teams are fucking themselves by... winning Super Bowls? Claim #8: *I* "want" the thing you completely and totally made up, just now? Now THAT would be MAGIC! Seriously dude, this is sad. Huh? 49ers? Who mentioned them? Oh, you did. Ok, noted. 😕 As others have stated, the 49ers are in some really deep injury hell this year, damn. But I'm sure you wouldn't care about that, I mean- ohhhh wait, you yourself claimed injuries as the reason we should all be considering for the BENGALS' horrible play this year, right, right very selective of you.... Oh goodie, you're going to tell me what I think, that's where you're a Viking! What I think #1: "fake years".... X wrong. Nope. Didn't mention fake years, that was you. What I think #2: "Dak Prescott"... X wrong. Nope. Didn't mention, think about, or care about Dak Prescott. What I think #3: "Bengals.... business..." X wrong. Nope. I don't give a flying motherfuck about the Bengals BUSINESS because I'm a fucking FAN and I care about them WINNING hellooooo fucking hell no wonder you don't get it. If they were in the worst cap hell a team has ever seen two years from now would I care if they won the Super Bowl NEXT year? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO lollllllll! What I think #4: Bunch of nonsense about AAV's totals, future years, "fake money". X wrong, that was all you again. I don't give two shits, a flying fuck, or a wet fart what, how, or why the Bengals would figure out a way to use their cap effectively to keep and attract good players, but they DON'T. Nothing else is worth mentioning, but I know that won't stop you, have at it! Huh? Cowboys and Jags? Who mentioned them? Oh, it was you. I guess you didn't take my advice from the previous line I highlighted: "...comparing that breakdown to how consistently SUCCESSFUL teams are doing it." Feel free to keep beating up on the shitshows though. Claim #9: "Trey is a steal at current salary". Ok, whatever, who mentioned anything about "worth"? Oh, that was you. So you also said Nick Bosa is "making $34 mil a year" so why don't we actually compare? Trey Salary: $14.8M Bosa Salary: $1.125M Wow, based on SALARY, Bosa is the steal of the MILLENNIUM! Ok, ok, I'll stop playing your game, and compare what their cap hits are: Trey cap hit: $20,166,666 Bosa cap hit: $14,671,000 Whoa, whoa, maybe I was right, he IS the steal of the millennium! This is of course all very stupid, you're arguing with yourself or the ghosts of homer Bengal fans past, it doesn't really matter which - it's got nothing to do with ME. As for what I'm "knocking"... I'm knocking the difference between those two numbers, right there. The Bengals could easily structure a short extension for Trey that reduces his cap hit and makes him happy at the same time, but they don't. If they did those things we'd have kept Bates and perhaps Reader, would have had a better chance to attract better players with more salary... these things are obvious, but have fun with your strawmen - you sure do bring them out to play a lot, after all...

I hate them as much as anyone but I'm sorry dude - that is some orange-colored glasses BS. They haven't had a losing season since 2003. They expect to win. It's fucked up that they're willing to break some knees to do it & that's why I could never be a Stealers fan. Maybe Tomlin was mugging for the cameras but his players sure act like they believe in him. Can you say the same about Taylor? That aside, claiming we have the better organization because we went to the Super Bowl 3 years ago while sitting at 4-8 is the most Bengals shit ever. We'd all be over the moon if we had even half the success & overall consistency they seem to take for granted. All I'm saying is that I wish our guys had some of that attitude. They haven't quite beat it out of Joe yet but the rest of the team.. IDK, I'm not seeing it.
  30. "Sure, so we might have not paid the Visigoths and they're here sacking Rome, and that's on me. My bad guys. I guess I should have done that instead of paying for all of the orgies." Second year centurion Jordanius was quick to absolve Caesar, "That's just how Caesar is, but we centurions are still shining our armor and harassing peasants with good energy. At the end of the day, we have to repel the Visigoths as Romans, not just as legionnaires. You can't just say 'Oh, it was this orgy, it was that orgy...' We have to come together as a legion. I believe that we can still save Rome." That will be hard work with only 3.7% of Rome left unsacked after a humiliating defeat of the Roman legions by a bunch of Visigoth kindergartners out on a field trip. "Dem Kids man. They got the ball out fast every time, and that's just impossible to stop." said 7th year centurion Germanius Prattus. "We'll get them next week. I think guys are finally figuring out which end of the sword is the stabby one. 🩸" "It's tough but we'll find out who the real Romans are." said Jesus Burronious. "It's a great opportunity," Caesar said. "It's good to get out of the city for a while. I think the legion will respond well to that."
  31. That sounds like the type of player you want to sign to a long-term deal, but what do I know
  32. Apologize if this topic has already been beaten to death (as I'm sure most of you are happy about, I don't come here that often anymore), but anybody notice that Baker Mayfield is kicking ass now? All the while Deshaun Cosby is sucking ass for the Clowns. Pure hilarity. couldn't happen to a more deserving fanbase.
  33. Please Lou - PLEASE - don't let Groper Cleveland resurrect his career this weekend.
  34. That’s my take on the hours-later replies to heat-of-the-moment posts. The six likes and one ❤️ reactions to my post would indicate (at least to me) that I’m not the only one that feels that way. Oh, well. No biggie. This is still THE BEST place to get Bengals-related news…and we ALL want the Bengals to win (well, most of us). 🦗
  35. Go Eagles beat The Perverts Go Washington beat the Rats Go Las Vegas Sois beat the Squeelies Go Us beat the Gnats... by 3.5 points at least.

I want an ass kicker DC who wears his hat backwards, chews, is divorced at least twice, and drives a Ford Raptor with plates that say '3NOUTBTCH'
  40. Even if we do not get in, today is still a good day to be a Bengala fan. This holds true any time we beat the Stealers.
  41. Guessing the coaches loved him, but I’m sure the FO vetted/liked him as well. And they had an insider (TJH) who vouched for him too. That said, I remember when he was drafted, and instant reaction on TV from Nick Saban (after extolling his playing ability) definitely got my attention, as he referred to his maturity and focus issues. Meanwhile, Saban was falling all over himself praising the character of Tide guys like Terrion Arnold and Kool Aid McKinstry. What pisses me off about Duke and crew is that they often get too cute with picks… almost like they think they’re smarter than other teams on player evaluation, and they roll the dice on value picks with question marks early. So we basically get a year from a guy who under-achieved/under-delivered (although he did show a few flashes as both a WR and returner). At best, Burton could have shown out, and lessened the urgency for the Bengals to consider re-signing Tee Higgins, or look to the draft for reinforcements. Instead, with very limited snaps, so far he’s shown himself to be a talented head case who can’t be depended upon.
  42. It's a good thing we didn't have any other needs when we drafted him.
  43. I'd be happy if no one had a Thursday night game ever again.
  44. Aside from some fight in Vegas where the charges were dropped, did he have any other legal issues? Insane to me that Stealers being pissbabies turned this guy into some kind of dangerous menace as compared to the actual pieces of shit like DeShaun Watson or the long list of wife-beating dirtbags, drug addicts & serial drunk drivers the NFL has no problem protecting. Go ahead and rape women in public restrooms but don't you dare tackle someone too hard! Who is a bigger piece of shit, Burfict or Roger Goodell? It's not even a fair question TBH. NFL did him dirty. 100% scapegoat.
