Nobody else is chomping at the bit to get him either. It's likely that if he leaves Denver, it is for less then a 1st rounder. Who knows if the Bengals have mentioned a trade or not. Also, if this guy was so squeeky clean, and ready to go, would he even available. This is a high risk/high reward person. With the $$$ involved, it is not surprising teams aren't breaking the bank to go get him.

Never happen . Too logical . Hope Mike loses his mind and fixes the problem immediately by signing Marshall And Olson . If not Olson, Sheffler will do. Voila' 2010 playoffs get much closer . After signing these two guys he can consentrate on the defense and renewing Marvin.

As long as the Bengals do one or the other (sign Marshall and give up the 1st pick, or sign TO and keep the pick), I'll be fine with that. I'm leaning towards TO and keeping the pick, as we have other needs, but either way, I'll be content.

I will be pissed if they don't get ANY of these guys, though.

its not so cut and dry. If it were, more than 2 teams would be linked to him. Giving up a 1st and $50 million to a primadonna WR with off the field problems and is associated with gang activity is never a simple conclusion.

Exactly. If this guy were a prince it would be a no brainer but then again we would be fighting 10 other teams for his services. I can't see spending that kind of money on any player other than a franchise QB particularly one that spent half the season trashing his own organization. I would love his talent on the team but in this case I think it would be a mistake. Too many worms in that shiny apple.

It doesn't look like the Seattle Seahawks will be giving Denver Broncos restricted free agent wide receiver Brandon Marshall an offer sheet at this time following his weekend visit.

Per the Denver Post, it appears that the Seahawks remain unwilling to part with a first-round draft pick.

The Seahawks have two first-round selections, drafting sixth and 14th.

Under NFL rules, the Broncos would be given the Seahawks' higher pick if they signed him and the Broncos didn't match.

At this point, there's no movement on the Marshall front.

And there's been no word of any trade discussions at this point. Of course, that could heat up as the draft approaches.

I have no idea... but what will the 21st pick in the draft command dollar-wise? Total package with signing bonus, etc.?

With Marshall, you have a known commodity. He's a game-breaker that has some potential off-field issues... has that ever stopped Mike before? Remember, he's the redeemer...

With the 21st pick, Lombardi is correct, there isn't any player that will give you immediately what Marshall does. And, you're paying a dumptruck load of money for an unknown...

I'd give Denver my 21st pick, contingent on getting a deal with Marshall in place (which really would occur anyway since he'd be signing an offer sheet), and take your chances on the off-field stuff. We've done it plenty with other guys, haven't we? You immediately make your offense dynamic as which receiver do you double? And, you give yourself some leverage for Chad come negotiation time next year... as right now, he'd hold all the cards and the Bengals have no, NO leverage at all. Pick up a TE or OL in the 2nd round, pick the other in the 3rd at some point, and then BPA from there on out...

You've got a nice looking roster from my vantage-point... it seems that people are over-valuing draft picks to a certain extent. Marshall is only 24 I believe, maybe 25. He's still young and gives you immediate performance that you don't necessarily have with a drafted player. You may never have it with a drafted player for that matter. How many receivers went before DeSean Jackson? I know for sure at least 3, maybe 4... None of those guys is putting up anywhere close to his numbers.

EDIT: there were 6... and only 3, Avery, Nelson, and Royal even make good contributions... and only a couple picks later you had Limas Sweed and Malcolm Kelly taken as well... we all know how that has gone.

If it is so logical we wouldn't be approaching the 2nd weekend of FA with him still on the market. Futhermore:

All top WR available this period:

Marshall - 4th round pick
TO - 3rd round pick
Boldin - 2nd round pick
Bryant - 2nd round pick

You take the cost of Marshall (Rumored 50 mil and first round pick), The off and on field baggage, the other WRs avail FA and draft, and the realization that top quality Wrs are being mined outside the first round frequently, it's not hard to understand.

There's plenty of reasons why he is available today it's not a slam dunk. If it was you wouldn't have the opportunity to talk to him in the first place.

The rumored contract demands for Marshall and the 21st pick are not even in the same ball park. You can expect a 5 year deal around 12-15 mil, with about 10 coming in the first two seasons.

Marshalls demands are rumored to be in the 9/10 mil a year range, so 40-50 mil and you can guess up to half of that will be given to him in the first two seasons. It's a big difference.

Aren't you kind of, in a roundabout way, justifying trading a 21st pick (which you're claiming right now is just a gamble and anything but sure as you're facts above prove out) on a known commodity...

And that known component is one that says top 5 wide receiver in the league, maybe top 7, at worst.

I know you're arguing that good players can be found in any round and I agree with that... but, you're also justifying a trade of the 21 pick for a player that you know what you're getting.

Eh, when it equates to the draft. I think Marshall's demands put him in the value you see for top 10 picks. Teams up there have a chance to select franchise LT, DT, QB, or Passrusher typically. I would rate those spots more valuable than WR typically.

Teams in the bottom 10 have to decide to trade their pick, accept a top 10 contract when a lesser but viable improvement could be had like a TO etc.

I think that's what it boils down to and I don't think trading for him is sooooo logical because the activity has been low so far.

It became clear Sunday that the New York Jets are thinking about making a run at finding the right package to entice the Denver Broncos to trade wide receiver Brandon Marshall(notes), according to the seattlepi.com. Marshall, a restricted free agent, has already visited the Seattle Seahawks this offseason to discuss a potential deal with and the rumor mill has been consistently saying that the Cincinnati Bengals wouldn't mind finding a way to add Marshall to their roster.

Marshall scored 10 touchdowns last season on 101 receptions for 1,120 yards. Any team that signs Marshall has to give up a first-round pick to the Broncos if they don't match the offer. Seattle has the sixth overall pick.

There is still plenty of time before the draft on April 22 to get a trade done.

More than likely this is just a recycled rumor, but can anyone imagine if we were to say send Chad and a 4th or 5th for Marshall? Marshall and Bryant would be insane.
