LostInDaJungle Posted December 4, 2024 Report Posted December 4, 2024 Lou Anarumo walks into a bar at the stadium. "Hey Phil, let me get a quick beer from you." Lou downs it in seconds. "Another." Again, he chugs like there's no tomorrow. "Another." Phil hands him the beer and says "Damn, Lou why are you drinking like this?" Lou says "You'd drink like this too if you had what I have. Bring 'em two at a time." Phil pours the beers... "My God that's terrible! What do you have?" Lou pounds the last two beers and says "About 5 minutes before security kicks me out of the stadium." And runs away. 1 Quote

UncleEarl Posted December 4, 2024 Report Posted December 4, 2024 I doubt Taylor will get fired. It's not how they roll. They wait until it is without a doubt the only thing left to do. He should be fired, IMO, but well... I think there is a strong chance Anuromo will get the axe. Two garbage years in a row where their draft picks have done squat. If the family keeps Anuromo its like saying management f'ed up the defense. I think he goes. 1 Quote

I don’t see Zac going anywhere but re Lou and crew, I don’t see how they come back. The D has been bad for 2 years running and this year, it’s historically bad. Young players haven’t developed at all, and they've spent a lot of high draft capital on that side of the team. Recent, older FAs (for whom Lou was advocating, at least in part), haven’t panned out. I just don’t see how you can justify him and the other defensive position coaches coming back. They need to blow it up. Certainly, the personnel side and “front office” has effed up too, and as much as some of these guys are likely busts, I find it very hard to believe that at least some are not, or could not become (decent to above decent) players. 2 Quote

Yeah, a new D coordinator will want to bring in his own crew. I also think it goes without saying because it hasn't been said in any of these "Fire ___" comments that Pollock is outta here. 1 Quote

He's had plenty of chances and the OL has never been better than average, and usually below that. 1 Quote

Bengals won't pay enough or give him any control over personnel. I think Vrabel is going to be the next HC in Las Vegas. The guys that haven't been HC's in the NFL before are going to have the same hard time that Zac did as far as hiring OC's or DC's. (Same shit, different names!) I read somewhere that the reason Ben Johnson didn't take a job last year is because he was asking for a contract in the $15 million a year range. Jon Gruden might be desperate enough to get another shot at HC in the NFL. (Even with the Bengals!) Given a shot at redemption and Ohio ties fits the Bengals front offices M.O.. I think I'd be okay with Gruden. Belichick interviewed with the University of North Carolina this week. 😮 Something tells me he's got zero prospects in the NFL. Probably burnt a lot of bridges. 2 Quote

sparky151 Posted December 6, 2024 Report Posted December 6, 2024 Or maybe he's not even a good OC. When he had Mahomes, Reid was calling the plays. Bienemy didn't do much in Washington or at UCLA. 1 Quote

Correct me if new information has come out.... Bienemy claims that he had always intended this to be a one year thing, and that he was always planning to be back in the running for NFL jobs this year. I haven't heard a confirmation either way as to him being fired or quitting. Joe and Jamarr make Zac's offense look a lot better than the pure X's and O's do. But even with me not being a huge fan of the playcalling... I don't think Bienemy is an upgrade. He's an old school shouty guy too, and I feel like that just doesn't work with today's players. And offense isn't the problem. I would not be a fan of the hire. 2 Quote

Maybe that's true but it sounds like just the sort of dubious prevarication this franchise values. Did he meet Sean McVay while he was in LA? That'd be a big plus. 1 Quote

Even if he's healthy and fit or whatever, you have to wonder if he might get into it and realize he doesn't have the heart for coaching anymore, that millions of dollars, beach houses, and a 24-year-old girlfriend are fulfilling enough on their own. 1 Quote
sparky151 Posted December 6, 2024 Report Posted December 6, 2024 Belichick made 20 million per year with the Pats. The Bengals don't pay even half that. He'll have suitors after this season but the Bengals won't be among them. 1 Quote
LostInDaJungle Posted December 6, 2024 Report Posted December 6, 2024 Wow... Stole this image from Reddit. The Bengals have the 4th highest cap hit for their defense. And spend the most on their defensive line. If this team is starving for talent, it's not like they aren't spending enough on groceries. Damn. 1 Quote

Zach calls a very productive offense with JB and Chase to work with. He does employ other O weapons to make the O terrifying for opponents. Damn , if we had a defense that could complicate what the O is doing We'd be the Lions or better in the SB run if that only happened .. 1 Quote
