  1. How much I fight has zero impact on the way the team plays or the outcome of any games. I would rather see THE TEAM fight. But we didn’t see that, did we? I have plenty of frustrations in my life…that I can control to some extent. Being a fan of this team often adds even more frustration that I have no control over (the uninspired play of this team; disappointing drafts; and stupid play-calling). I think as a self-preservation measure, I will (and do) detach myself from the team a bit after a shitshow like we witnessed today. Yes, we still have a shot at a post-season birth, but we FAILED to take advantage of a golden opportunity to greatly improve our post-season standings..with a pitiful display. So, while I do admire you hardcore fans and can appreciate your “we still got a chance” stance, for the betterment of my own health I need to push away a bit. If that makes me a lowly bandwagon fan, so be it. If that bothers you enough that you feel the need to call me out, then I would suggest that you put me on “ignore”.

  2. I would like to see him as the Ruler of the Jungle some week. Maybe the Pittsburgh game. NO

  3. "They've Gotta Beat Us." What did the team learn last year? That they can win without Burrow. More important, they learned to do a few different things in order to win sans Burrow. Some of that stuff will show up as the next part of Burrow's game and the evolution of the offense. And they'll do it without compromising the stuff that Burrow likes to do best--which means we'll still see plenty of shotgun, 4 and 5 wide, etc... . So, they got Moss because he can block and run from the shotgun. They got Gesicki who is Boyd's replacement, imo. They got a tackle who will let Burrow be more comfortable in the pocket and have more time to do his magic. This off-season is about becoming more flexible on offense, imo, and they have done a pretty good job of it --on paper. Not bad moves on the defensive side of the ball, either. So, Fuck Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Baltimore--they've got to beat us.

  4. Today is Sam Wyche's birthday. January 5th. I always make a point to remember people on the anniversary of their birth rather than the random date upon which they were taken from us. We are made better when important people enter our lives, and are diminished when they depart. Let's choose to celebrate the former. Happy birthday, Coach.

  6. I don't think Burfict lost any talent. He was made the scapegoat for the NFL trying to avoid a massive CTE lawsuit. If he had played for Pittsburgh he'd likely be first ballot HoF. Instead he played for their rival and they crybullied him right out of town for the crime of giving them a mouthful of their own medicine. He just gave what he got and it's a damn shame his coach was clap-clap-clapping along while his team was getting blatantly headhunted. Maybe if Marvin had stood up for his players and pointed out the hypocrisy instead of grabbing ankles... Well who knows, it's done now but I will always think Burfict got shafted.

  8. I want nothing to do with a RB who has never played a full season with starting RB reps and who has had a major knee AND ankle injury in the last 3 years with the 3rd season cut short from yet another injury. There's got to be a better option.

  9. Campbell: All balls, no brains. Kind of like the Brett Favre of coaching. Favre won one, so might Campbell. Ravens: All bravado and emotion. No brains. Even with Lamar playing crappy they had a chance to win. They blew it with penalties, fumbles, you name it. All of them losing their minds. No composure, just embarrassing. Reminds me of the Bengals in Marvin's playoff days.

  11. I don't often comment on Bengals-specific stuff because I'm not a wannabe GM and many of you guys are a lot smarter than me when it comes to football IQ. I enjoy reading what you smart fuckers say. I'm just a fan who has been on this roller coaster ride since '68. I loved the early Bengals--Trumpy, Paul Robinson, Virgil Carter, et all because they were a tough bunch of dudes. I endured abuse from sportswriters at the newspaper I worked at during the Dave Shula years. I liked the '81 team and loved the '88 team. And 2021 was a lot of fun. But I have to say that this year, for me, is a lot of fun and ranks up there with my favorites. I don't even care if they miss the playoffs. These players are fighting, scrappy, never-give-up mothergrabbers who don't give a damn what the world thinks. And they have taken a fair amount of unwarranted criticism from pundits this year. Piss on the sideline jerks who think their opinion matters. And I'm looking at you, Nick Wright. Hot damn, people, I think we all knew that this season was going to be troublesome from the start with Burrow's calf injury. But, shit-fire, there is never a reason to tank. Never, ever, ever. You go down swinging and you take your lumps. Last year, when I was half-delirious in the hospital, it was the Bengals that gave me some vicarious hope and inspiration. Bless 'em. I'm gonna root for them to win, even if they were to trot out a roster full of shitty Walnut Hills High School players from the 70s. I like those guys, too, but they were not very good. End rant.

  12. The Stealers are so delusional, they have been the beneficiaries of so many calls that when they don't get everything handed to them on a silver platter they can't understand why they are not getting the calls. Their whole franchise is built on the NFL ignoring steroid use in the '70s and a missed call, the immaculate reception that was really an incomplete pass. They are like spoiled teenagers who are told to figure it out on their own, but they would rather whine about it to the media...what a clown...enjoy that 10k fine..

  13. Captains are chosen by the players. There are only 53 votes. No more, no less. Those votes go to those who exemplify leadership on the field and in the locker room, not on what you, I, the press, the coaches, the front office, or any of the talking heads in the public or media think. It's strictly a player-to-player acknowledgements of who this teams' leaders are. Doesn't matter at all if you don't agree with any of them, because frankly, you weren't asked. To those grousing about any of these choices.... let it go. Seriously.

  15. There are people in the world starving, or nearly so, and many more struggling to put food on the table. “Fighting for crumbs” was a poor choice of words to describe someone in a worse-case position to make $21.8 million. That’s my opinion, and I will stand by that opinion. 🦗

  16. i got my seats back. talked to 3 people and got pumped to a manager finally and it took some selling i had to pull out all the stops, all truthful, but i had to play the logic, the heart strings, the begging, and they gave in, its possible i will lose a set next year and keep a set.. but we shall see. after the fact the things that was frustrating me the most that caused my rage, is im getting older, my health isnt exactly great, and my kids are getting older, there arent going to be many years that i can spend this time with my oldest son, in a few years he is gonna have a demanding job, family, and maybe kids of his own, and fucking off to ohio to watch the bengals with me isnt gonna be possible. and the thought of the bengals stripping that away from me to appease some assholes on a wait list, assholes WHO DIDNT SUPPORT THEM WHEN SALES WERE DOWN, but want tickets now that they are good, theyd take that away from me for those fans? for no gain in their pocket? probably an emotional flounce but i was about ready to be done with this franchise. you cursed my life with andy dalton and now this??!?!? fool me once...

  17. What is sustaining me right now with a KC win, is the thought of 65,000 Ravens fans, living in a squalor city less safe than Baghdad, all getting back in their cars to drive home with dried tears on their face, knowing that their so-called MVP is 2-4 in the playoffs all time and a LOSER. They will go to bed tonight knowing that Shiesty is the only King of the North who has tasted the pageantry of the Super Bowl and their team of degenerate hoodrats never will. Somewhere in the stands right now, there is a young Ravens fan whose dad saved up the 500$ to bring him to his first game, and the only memory little Johnny is going to have is the existential despair of seeing the Ravens lose on the 2nd biggest stage, while his father curses the entire ride home. I will soak up that Schadenfreude like it is heroin shot right into my veins.

  18. He’s done well in JB’s absence. This was a QB centric offense where EVERYTHING was on the QB’s shoulders and centered around him. Now, it seems like it’s more catered towards the entire offense. When JB comes back next year, I hope this keeps up…it’ll make it easier on the entire offense to not be all on JB’s shoulders.

  19. Pure dysfunction. Love to see it. Diontae saying it's his job to keep Pickens head in the game is hilarious. It's not his job, lol. The Stealers are probably the only entity I can't let go of my extreme disdain for. They ruined a generation of football for me with their cheap shots, and I never get tired of anything bad happening to them.

Love the fact that pretty much anything and everything I need to know will be posted by yourself or the others in one of the threads. That’s the primary reason I come here.

  24. I may have posted this photo previously but the story behind it just got more interesting. Following our playoff victory in Buffalo, this photo came to me via either FB or Twitter. It's stunning. I reached out to the Bengals yesterday to see if they knew the photographer. I wanted to give him/her credit and contact them to purchase a reprint to frame. The team did not disappoint as they got me in touch this afternoon with the gent who snapped this. Photo Credit: Seth Tanner Seth provided me a high-res copy of the photo for free and gave me permission to use it as long as I don't use it commercially. Amazing what you can accomplish just by asking.

  26. I object your honor. Apples to oranges. Bengals are a pass heavy team whereas the ravens are exactly the opposite. What the bengals will ask of Moss is quite different than what Baltimore will have planned for Henry.

  28. After the way the Chiefs behaved in winning against us last year in the AFCC and watching their behavior after winning (waving goodbye to the crowd) last week. Fuck them. Give me the Ravens with Lamar getting hurt and not being able to play in the SB. For the Superbowl give me the Lions winning it all in their very first trip.

  30. How are our Browns fans feeling? Would you rather make the playoffs and get embarrassed like this, or not make it at all? Honestly, I'd rather my team not make it at all than have this happen on national TV. How sweet would it be to go to bed Monday night with Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Kansas City all one-and-done?

  33. Just re-watched the Tyler Boyd 3d and 9 in OT catch. Watch how Tee turns with him and sprints down the field as a blocking escort. That's how teams that want to win play.

  34. With all the knowledge I obtain on this site, I come off as smart about football, especially at work, and especially with one of my fun but high maintenance clients who is a diehard Bengals fan but is constantly amazed at what I can tell him, and tells me so. Today he said I had my best comment ever when I told him that Ryan Finley was now a professional pickle ball player. (Note: I’ve had this client for over 20 years.) So, thank you all, and a special shout out to the Chat group (aka Bengals Therapy). You guys rock! 🎸🥁 WHO DEY! P.S. We are 2-0 since I put my office Christmas tree 🎄 up. Maybe I should have put it up sooner. 😂

  36. If you're on Twitter you have undoubtedly seen this artwork series. The artist is Isobel Hamilton from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and she's a big Bengal fan. During the playoff run last season she released one image per week. They're outstanding ..... (Click on any to embiggen) Reprints of these are available from her e-commerce site. $22 for 8x8, $30 for 12x12. I've ordered a full set, large, and should be getting them this coming week. She has continued the series into the current season. They're just as fantastic as the 2022 playoff set, although prints are not yet available of them.

  37. I am always against Pittsburgh unless their winning is certain to help the Bengals. I know folks in Ohio get tired of Browns fans, but outside of Ohio, they're hard to find. Stealers fans are everywhere and they are arrogant and obnoxious.

  38. So I wanted to bring this topic up after seeing some comments in anther thread (and mods feel free to relocate this). I guess I'll just cut to the chase...is seeing this sort of stuff embedded in threads annoying the board at large? The last thing I'd want to do is create clutter for people to scroll past. I understand that this is a message board, and the fan discourse is paramount. My personal thought on sharing beat writers/insiders videos and comments was simply to keep the fan base here updated. I have my own opinions on things, trust me. But sometimes it is nice to see video of things going on at camp and practice, different viewpoints and whatnot. I know Mem really paved the way with this and lately Dex and I have taken the reigns so to speak. I always thought it was nice to come here instead of having to scroll through X (Twitter)/Youtube myself for Bengals specific content. Especially after being busy with work all day or home projects or whatever . That may not be how many others feel though, and that is fair. Anybody can sign up on X or Youtube so I get that.
