Other sports are trying to do the same, but other sports aren't like baseball. Baseball is, for the most part, a series of one on one interactions. Football most definitely is not. What happens to you is significantly effected by what your teammates do. Hard to quantify that in football, line play in particular. 100%, & in a normal baseball season of 162 + games one can safely make decisions based on those numbers (bka Sabermetrics). There are enough games for statistics to play out. In a 16+ game NFL season, the difference between 8-8 and playoffs can be as random as someone's shoe coming untied or a kicker eating one too many cheese coneys the night before. It's not a sport that rewards making decisions based solely on statistics.
I_C_Deadpeople
On several sites they have noted that either 29 or 30 of the 32 teams subscribe to PFF - they may do so for their own players but other teams players as well. At worst, it is another set of eyes and analysis of players. Coaches and teams will be biased towrds certain players - like this team seems to be with Hart, they seem to think every mistake is a one off that is correctable in the short term. Other see reality which is a player that is consistently bad.

I can look at that from another teams perspective and adjust to the fact that we can pressure JB there because of his ineptitude in run or pass blocking.. Harts going to see alot of good players on his side to expose him...
I_C_Deadpeople
Today Dallas was missing no their starting tackles yet Prescott was only sacked once and hit only 4 times; either their backups are better than our starters or they simply game planned better

Did you happen to notice all the trouble the Chargers gave Mahomes today? Quite a bit

|High School Harry|
Bengals sign Alex Redmond to practice squad Redmond returns to Cincinnati after a two-week stopover. By John Sheeran@John__Sheeran Sep 21, 2020, 11:43am EDT y Ian Johnson/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images The Cincinnati Bengals today have signed OL Alex Redmond to their practice squad. Redmond made the Bengals’ initial 53-man roster this year, but was waived shortly afterwards and was ostensibly replaced by Shaq Calhoun, whom the team claimed off waivers. A college free agent signing by the Bengals after the 2016 NFL Draft, Redmond spent his first four years in Cincinnati. He was on the team’s practice squad for the entire 2016 season and made the active roster for the 2017 season. He played in 23 career games for the Bengals over the past three seasons along with 17 starts, 15 of which came in 2018 when he was the starter at right guard. After elevating TE Mason Schreck to the active roster, the Bengals had one open spot to fill on their 16-man practice squad. Redmond’s signing now gives them a full practice squad, but will the team elevate him to the active roster on game days? The Bengals have major issues at right guard at the moment, and Redmond has previous starting experience with the team at that position.
mgbrown66
Well I consider the OLine fixed. Welcome back Mr Redman. Hopefully you can get back in the games and false start 10 times in the first quarter.

I would suggest looking at the teams with the better O-lines and then seeing what they have on their practice squad. Of course, that player would have to be signed to our roster and remain there for a period of time (3 weeks?). Perhaps the team team has already done that (one would hope do), but without any pre-season game tape to watch it becomes a real crapshoot with unfamiliar players. |Numbers|
Players available to poach... Hmm... We need someone who is capable of starting and fixing the problems. Nobody fits the description. As someone else used to say, "We'll go to war with what we have."

Duluoz
With his big contract I don't know if there would be any interested parties out there but I'd be very willing to dangle AJ Green. Surely some team with an extra OT could use a WR of AJ's pedigree....wishful thinking I guess.
Sea Ray
Lapham was on local radio today speaking very highly of Redmond. Says that he's a mauler and is the best "finisher" (of a block) of any lineman on the team. He said that injuries, particularly elbow, has been the reason he hasn't shined on the field with the Bengals.

claptonrocks
We win this week.. They lack playmakers on offense...Wentz is erratic now.. Interior dline is stout with Cox and Hargrave but DEs are underwhelming .. Hart should hold up..Sample just has to chip block and go for passes.. Mixon can get the corners on them.. Joe has big day.. Slay on AJ.....look for other widouts Joe! Our first win and a good one under JB...
