Yes, the Bengals should be calling Tretter's agent today. He would have made 8.2 mil this year under his old contract. Signing him would let us save 6 mil by cutting Hopkins and putting Karras at LG where he's played the last 2 years. Also since Tretter was cut, he won't figure in the comp pick formula next year.

so much this... and I love when players have a grudge against their old team.. See Mike Hilton

If we picked up Tretter and either reiff or Collins at RT we could totally pass on OL in the draft (I know I know I said we should draft one every year) or at least only in later rounds  - very very open draft table given we dont really need OL, QB, WR, LB.

yeah, this is amazing. Could the o-line go from the biggest weakness on the team to not being a problem at all?

I am already so freaking happy with this offseason.. they get a couple more pieces and they have knocked it out of the park. Then the draft can be BPA all day.. This is awesome..

If Linderbaum and Elam are both there at 31 do we get Civil War part 2? Who do you take?

Elam...

We have a center now..

We dont have an outside corner..

Im not counting on Apple being back and even if he is we need depth..

I would want someone more reliable. He has never been good 1700 career yards in 5 years is pretty terrible.

Injury prone..coming back from achilles rupture he looked slow as well and that was his strength..4.51 40 is no longer..

I'm surprised at this. He's decent and would be an upgrade over Hopkins.

Huge upgrade...

I knew the Browns invested heavily on their oline the past couple seasons..

Losing Tretter leaves a hole in the middle..

He should get a big payday somewhere..

Will the Browns draft Linderbaum now instead of a WR of dlineman?

No need to tender Morgan, nobody else will offer him a lot. He can probably be re-signed for around vet minimum as he's a bubble guy. Nice special teams player, not such a good WR.

Regarding Tretter, the team is supposedly about 20 mil under the cap after yesterday's signings and before releasing anyone. Cutting Waynes gets us to 30 under. If we sign Tretter for 9 mil or so and save 6 by cutting Hopkins, that puts us at 27 under. Trading for Lael Collins would put us 17 under and have the O-line fixed. The 17 mil would be enough to re-sign Brandon Allen, Tre Flowers, Eli Apple, the rookie class and still leave us with plenty for injury reserve. And the draft would be open.

I think Tight End should fall next. I would take any of these top 4.

My order: CJ made 8 million so we would either want an upgrade or to pay less.

1.       Gronkowski-You have to believe he is heading back to Tampa but he would be a good 1 year upgrade at the position. He’s only 33 and made a huge impact last year

2.       Everett-More long term production and familiarity with Taylor in LAR. Between 33-48 catches and 320-478 yards each of the last 4 years. Very good athlete and powerful after the catch. Angry runner.

3.       Hurst-Phased out in Atl but still has some upside. Flashes whenever asked to play a bigger role but beat out in Baltimore by Andrews and then Atl by Pitts. Great athlete, good after the catch

b.       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFenpzSCh2U

4.       Conklin-Just 27 so could be long term here and no need to use a pick. Very solid pass catcher last year, coaches will have familiarity because he played for Frazier at CMU. Just 32 catches before he broke out for 61 last year and 3 scores. Former basketball player with great hands and athleticism. I could see us signing him for 3 years at about 6 per year.

b.       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5rsTISbCrE

5.       Tonyan-One big year in 2020 with 11 tds and 52 catches, probably back to GB for cheap.

a.       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cc_KvJZMnp4

6.       Howard-High upside but hasn’t put it all together. He is like a low percentage 3 point shot. We don’t want them to take it but when it goes in we are all very excited. Highest catch totals in career are only 34 in both 2nd and 3rd year. Still just 27 but hasn’t put it all together. I would find it hard to trust him as the starter.

7.       Jarwin-Dalton Schultz took his spot after an injury. No production last 2 years. Very good 2 years ago but injuries derailed him. Will be injured still at the beginning of the year. Might be an option later in offseason.

8.       Williams-Solid blocker, was a decent pass catcher last year before his injury. Would be solid but nothing special. Downgrade from CJ

9.       Rudolph-Cincy native on the downside of his career. Not a bad last year with 26-257-1. At the end of career and wouldn’t be worth the flyer IMO

a.       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7dRWC1h7n0&t=58s

10.   Herndon-Unicornesque upside with ok production in NYJ before nothing last year. Flyer

Morgan's a pretty good blocker too.

I didn't realize his stats were so bad. That's crazy. I love CJ but I wasn't ready to pay 8 million per. I am actually really high on Hayden Hurst.

CJ played well here but you are right, can’t pay him 8 per year.  Congrats to him for getting paid.

That is disappointing.

Smacks of “we’ll find somebody else” dismissals

If the “assets” the Pats give up are 4th Round or less, then there is no excuse for the Bengals not doing the same.

And $15.25 for a quality RT is peanuts.
