AmishBengalFan
If Palmer hadn't walked out and retired rather than playing for the Stripes, we would've never been "forced" to start an untested rookie below center in Game 1 this season, nor would we have been able to parlay a valueless "retired" player for a 1st round pick in 2012 and a conditional 1st or 2nd round pick in 2013. So, thank you Carson Palmer, for leading the Bengals to the playoffs once again!

Bengals1181
Could Carson Palmer decide to quit again? Posted by Mike Florio on January 12, 2012, 4:18 PM EST Getty Images A year ago at this time, it gradually became evident that quarterback Carson Palmer no longer was interested in playing football for the Cincinnati Bengals. As weeks and months passed, it became more obvious that Palmer never would play for the Bengals. As the regular season approached, Palmer didn’t show up and Bengals owner Mike Brown showed zero inclination to trade Palmer. Then, when Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell suffered a broken collarbone only days before the annual trading deadline, the Raiders and former Bengals assistant coach Hue Jackson made an aggressive play for Palmer, sending a first-round pick in 2012 and a second-round pick in 2013, which will become another first-round pick if the Raiders make it to the AFC title game. Now, Jackson is gone and Palmer remains under contract and G.M. Reggie McKenzie could end up hiring a coach who doesn’t want Palmer to be the team’s quarterback. McKenzie said on Tuesday that Palmer will be the quarterbackheading into the offseason; however, McKenzie also said that Palmer won’t be immune to being pushed by a good player. Then there’s the question of whether Palmer wants to return. The guy has already quit on a team once. Would it be unreasonable to at least wonder whether he’ll quit again, now that the coach who brought him to the Bay Area has been fired? That said, it will be hard for Palmer to pull off another trade-me-or-I’m-not-playing maneuver. He somehow escaped widespread criticism for walking away from the Bengals. If Palmer does the Veruca Salt thing for a second straight year, the fans and the media may begin to scrutinize him the way the fans and the media largely didn’t in 2011. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/12/could-carson-palmer-decide-to-quit-again/
Passepartout
Raiders seem to fire more coaches than any other team. They have fired nine coaches since 1996, the most team in the NFL! Palmer and Campbell both will fight for their starting jobs lives come in training camp this year.

Bleeds Orange
The article is nothing but unfounded speculation, pulled from thin air. He offers no evidence, not even any rumors, that Palmer wouldn't want to come back. Now, I could see a new coach wanting to go a different direction, but there's no reason to even speculate about that at this point, either.
I by no means think he'll be cut, but there's probably a good chance that they bring someone in to at least push him a little. Mckenzie is highly regarded and thats what the good ones do. Cutting Carson would cause a $5 million cap hit that a good GM probably doesn't take, but after 2012 they don't owe him anything and I'd imagine all bets are off. Besides, at the very least they need a decent backup. I doubt Campbell re-signs and Boller isn't the answer. I wonder what Pryor's fate will be in the new regime. CTBengalsFan
McKenzie could bring in Matt Flynn, giving that he's coming from the Packers and wants to start fresh. LOVE seeing Carson go a franchise more dysfunctional than ours. Karmic justice.

mongo
Greg Knapp is the new OC in Oakland (again), and he's apparently a West Coast Offense guy who loves to run the ball (odd mix). I remember reading that stuff when Carson came out about being a slow learner (not stupid, but the kind of guy who needs to understand something from all angles before he's really got it down). I think he's not going to have any problems with the transition, but we'll see.

Hooky
I don't know why Knobjob thought that this snippet belonged on the Bengals site: CARSON TAKE: It will be recalled that the Saints bounty hunters of '09 and '10 played the Bengals twice, once each in the preseason and regular season. The man in the crosshairs, quarterback Carson Palmer, doesn't remember anything untoward in a text. "I don't remember any questionable hits," Palmer texted. "I just remember they were good pass rushers and the front seven played really hard but I don't think there was anything outside the rules going on at all." What a puss. They busted his fucking nose open.
