Bye Two Weeks

Hudson has produced when he has played. Smith has not.

I think I give Smith one more game until I make the switch

With all due respect, I think that would be one game too many.

Yesterday lost in the wash was a 3rd and 4 where he had a three yard reception.

Nope

And a missed pass.

Hudson's time is now and I am still so intrigued

by our 6'8" 245 practice squad pick up from Pittsburgh, Zac Gentry.

Big target?  Him and Drew Sample in a two tight end set for blocking?

FWIW

Also... not sure if noticed but Sample was in the backfield with Joe a few times.

Gotta say it... Mixon isn't the answer.

Probably nothing can or will be done over the bye week

but he is virtually useless in short yardage and can't all be

blamed on the O line.

Diving into a pile on 4th and 1... Child, please.

That 4th and 1 was stupid I agree. But nobody else is getting yards behind this line either. A few weeks ago we set up Chase in what was essentially a running play and he got 2 yards off it. Mixon is getting about that too most of the time.

When the line opens holes he hits them.

I don't think this is fixable without finding at least one linemen, ideally more, that can run block.

OBJ can but the problem with that is Volson is hot garbage.

Nobody on the rest of the line can do that.

Edit: Another example, from the Cards game. 1 yard to get at the goal line with more than one chance and the Oline cant get any push to get Joe in? .... This is bad,

Cant say I've watched Hudson as far as run blocking, but he is producing more in the pass game than Smith is that's for sure.

This offense can't rely so much on JB slinging it around. Captain Obvious speaking, but they need more production out of the run game, and at TE.

As such, I would seriously consider getting Samaje Perine... he's further down the depth chart, Denver blows, and Perine isn't part of the solution there, it doesn't seem like. He fumbled at the end of the game last week, and that didn't help. He's running 3rd team. I've always liked Tray'Veon but none of the 3 backups have distinguished themselves (I have hopes for Brown, but Evans and Williams, meh)... and Mixon's been pretty good, but they need more from the RB spot, especially in short yardage. They can likely get Perine for a pick swap or a conditional 7th. Now's the time, while they're in the bye week.

Also, agree - Smith has been worthless, and they are getting nothing out of the TE position... other than the game when Hudson played pretty well. I like Sample as a backup and in pass pro, but he won't threaten the seam... Hudson can. I thought Smith would start showing something by now; he hasn't, so if I were him, I'd stay and work like hell with JB this week so there's more comfort there. Either that, or put Hudson in. They can't afford to sustain this isht show any longer, especially with two tough games coming up.

Another David Fulcher post game comments/rant.

He said he hated bye weeks because the teams lost their momentum

and sense of being a team.

Good to heal up injuries but bad for momentum, continuity and building.

I think the Bengals have a bad record coming out of the bye weeks.

Next week is definitely not a good time for a let down.

Next two weeks.

OT... but anyone else at the game...

Did you notice they no longer have other teams' games in progress

posted on the scoreboard?

Absolutely kills scoreboard watching.

I think the Pumpkinettes have gone a tad overboard with the

advertising and game day experience stuff.

Next Sunday...

Gooooo Indy beat the Clowns

Gooooo Lions beat the Ratbirds

Goooo Rams beat the Squeels at 4:05

I somewhat agree with Pumpkies babies going a little overboard on the in game stuff, I really don't get the 4th quarter guitar thing either? Especially yesterday when the dude got started late and cutoff about 2 bars in. They showed other game scores almost constantly on the ribbon scoreboards in the SE and NW corners, but I don't believe I saw them on the big boards at all?

Another OT to your OT, if there was a dry eye in the house when that little one walked up to ring the bell at halftime, I would be surprised. Even the obnoxious Seahag fan and his butterface escort sitting in front and to the side of us gave him a standing ovation. I guess we were supposed to have some sort of "bell" thing downloaded to our phones, but they didn't pre advise anyone very well, as almost everyone sitting around us were perplexed, especially with the announcer stating every time "(insert name here) and Cincinnati RING THAT BELL" and nobody seemed to know what to do other than the person actually at the bell?

Guess I missed it or something.  Did not see other teams' scores posted at all.  Just an annoying and ridiculous late games and times.

Missed the bell ringing.  Half times I always go walk around to stretch my aging legs and ogle the drunken eye candy baes strolling around or in the long line for the rest room.

…meanwhile, the Giants get a guard “straight off the couch” that did very well against the Bills…and moved to tackle after yet another injury. [Loved his intro.]

Obviously, we’re just not looking at the right couches. 😎

Fuck the bi-week, and while we're at it go back to the proper 16 game schedule with the SB in January for fucks sake.

I hear you…and while we’re at it, “get off my lawn!”

[Edit:  I guess I took too long to find the emoticon.  Great minds think alike. 😎]
