Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase hold-in is one to monitor according to Adam Schefter

... Ja'Marr isn't going to get 40 per year, (5 more than Jefferson). I think the max he can likely secure is 35.1

Now maybe his agent is asking for 40 with that discount in mind. But there's no way the Bengals give him 40.

As for guaranteed, he might get 111 (one more than Jetta) but not 120.

So I would say 4 year, 140.4 million, with 111 guaranteed. Done. Now get the pen.

Keep in mind since he has 2 years left at basically 1 mill left this season, and 22 next season ... It would really be a 6 year, 163 million deal = 27 yearly average from here on out.

Yea that is a huge detail to keep in mind.

Agree about overpaid but if receivers are getting these deals Chase should be included. You don't think another team would pay that for his services?

They definitely would.

Let them. We don't need to match other team's bad decisions. WR is one of the easiest positions to replace on a roster.

Lol. He's not as good a player as Jefferson and the Bengals have a 55 mil QB, unlike Minnesota. That's why we're a better team. If Ja'Marr leaves camp because he doesn't want to play on his current contract, the fines would far exceed the salary he's scheduled to make. He'd be writing a big check to the team. So his agent won't let him do that. The team has all the leverage here.

He might if he waits till next offseason. That's the risk of not getting this done now.

True, but Jordan Love and Trevor Lawerence arent as good as Joe Burrow but they go the same number he did.

Actually thinking about this more the $160 does make sense. If you add that onto his current contract it would be ~$30.5/year which would put him 3rd in the league on a per year basis behind Jefferson and A.J. Brown and just ahead of Tyreek Hill ($30M/year) and Amon-Ra St. Brown ($30M/year)

Found this online--looking for examples of '60's-era contracts. Raymond Berry (HOF 1973) signed his 1964 contract--1 year $30,000.00.

Raymond Berry 1964 Baltimore Colts Signed and Executed NFL Players

Remember the price of cars and houses then?

What would 30k be worth today?

The whole point is to have expensive star players, that's a sign you are good. And the Bengals can be very good and a contender every season with Joe & Ja'Marr.

What good is it to have a bunch of cheap players and go 9-8 every year? Give me blue chip guys who can win a Super Bowl.

Good thing this team is loaded with talent & WR might be the deepest position out of all of them.

Ja'Marr is our Hall of Fame weapon. They are rare. You keep them when you find them.

They are keeping him.... @ $1.05 million this year and $21.9 million next year.  lol

No one forced him to sign to sign his rookie contract.

That's hardball for Chase but what he is owed within his contract.

He's a year early with his demands and should acknowledge that and

structure the asking contract accordingly.
