I'm convinced by y'all. I thought Lou was good, but he really has not improved any players. They have to be good already when they get here. Fire Lou, hire salah = bowl

Yeah they're missing but they weren't that good when healthy

This defense has been crap since Jesse Bates left. I'm starting to wonder how brilliant is Lou actually and how much was just him being carried by having Jesse out there.

Well at the beginning of last season, Lou did say the defence would be hurt by both safeties leaving - Bates and Bell.

The defensive line cannot stop the run, or generate pressure consistently.

Also our starting safeties have below average speed.

Until these are fixed, expect the same results, regardless who the defensive coach is.

You would be hard pressed to find any d coordinator who would do well missing 6 d linemen

Agree.

Hes a good coach.

His hands are tied with all the injuries

and a few bad draft picks.

I think Lou is a good DC... and yeah every team has injuries, but you have to overcome. That said, a "cluster" injury to one position that they had at DT isn't common and it definitely hurt them.

Having a first-time assistant working with the safeties, both of whom are new to the Bengals (yeah, I know - Vonn was here for a few years), and who are limited athletically besides, doesn't help.

Hubbard is playing better, they are getting healthier in the DL interior, Mike Hilton should be back in there... so I don't expect this D to be great, but I do expect to see improvement.

Whether an at-best, 20th-ranked D (if/when they get one) paired with a potent offense, and a relatively easy schedule without a lot of good QBs playing might be enough for them to get a playoff spot, time will tell... but there's not much room for error, that's for sure.

P.S. Lou Armadillo ain't going nowhere a quarter way into the season.

P.S.S.  Lou or nobody else can make Shinola out of the shit we have on D.

Zimmer is the DC in Dallas.

Salah wears a Lebanese flag on his shirt and….a few hours later…..fired. Woody Johnson, I’m sure has zero connections to Blackock and Vanguard; nope, none at all.

Who fires a coach at 2-3? Woody Johnson had NEVER fired a coach in season before. Until Salah.

And struggling there

for sure early, but last week they played a lot better. Granted, the Stealers aren’t gonna strike the fear out of (most) teams defensively, but the Dallas D was short-handed a lot, and they still stepped up in Pitt.

Detroit and SF coming up will be telling. After that, their two best defensive players, Parsons and Lawrence, as well as a starting CB (DaRon Bland) should be back and that’ll help. And the good thing for Dallas is that they have some athletic young guys who may be short on experience, but they still made plays in starters’ absence. Which is more than you can say for the Bengals’ backups.

When a returning coach gets fired early in a season, it shows the owner probably thought he should have made the move at the end of the prior season. I doubt the flag badge had anything to do with the firing, if he'd won the game he would still be the coach.

Too early in the season. That would be sign of throwing in the towel. I don't think anyone is ready to just give up yet after 5 games.  Not every team has Lamar Jackson. So if they continue to play as well as they did we are going to win a lot more games over the remainder of the season. I think this is the first game where they really started to click on offense. Now its off to the races.

This thread is goofy. I guess some of y'all are newer here but if you see a post from @soisyou should automatically assume you're being trolled.  😆

No offense, I am amused.
