I think they have something in the neighborhood of $20M to play around with still. 1. They need to sign a starter at Safety. 2. They need to sign a starter at Tight End. 3. They need to sign a committee guy at RB who can play 50% of snaps. 4. They need to sign a possible starter at RT. That's a lot to get done given their realistic budget. Especially if you hope to have some left over for depth at CB or DT. It shouldn't be a surprise that they are playing hardball and not paying $7 or $8M per year for guys like Hurst. There's still plenty of good players out there and the longer they are on the market, the more likely it is that the Bengals can get them at a good number that lets them cross off all four of their big remaining needs with solid guys. Going back to this an hour later and everything looks different... On the one hand, the Brown signing should seal the deal as far as La'el getting cut. That would open up some more cap space. But every if you say they had $25M to play with, this takes up $16M of it (though maybe less if it's frontloaded?). Priority now shifts to adding a starting Safety. Hopefully still have $6M or so to get a legit guy there. Almost certainly means we are looking at cheap, stop gap veterans at RB and TE but this signing also opens up the early rounds of the draft for those positions. MichaelWeston
Heading to day 4 RB: Still a lot of interesting guys left. If we go with age there are 2 that standout as potential Mixon replacements 1. Devin Singletary is 26-He is more elusive than Mixon, not as good of a pass catcher but a much better pass blocker. 2. Damien Harris is also 26-I have never been a huge fan but if cheap I think he can give us a lot of what Mixon gives us in the run game, a better pass blocker and while not a great receiver he hasn't been asked to do it. happyrid
Interesting tweet from the Giants beat writer a couple days ago saying that the Giants were interested in Nick Scott and that around the league he was viewed in the same tier as Vonn Bell, Juan Thornhill, and Julian Love. He wasn't on my radar at all but looks like he may be one of those guys NFL teams are higher on than the media.

My memory could be off but I remember it being the same year as Jonah Williams and the Bills traded up for him a couple spots ahead of us. We then traded back and took Drew Sample. BengalFanInTO
Nick Scott is a bit of an an under the radar player, at least with fans. He's a bit green from a starting perspective despite the fact he's 27. But, the guy played basically all the defensive snaps last year at SS and plays hard and hits hard. He'd be an interesting add. Cody Ford is also an intriguing possible addition. He's essentially been a "bust" to this point but, that was more so at RT. He's just too slow to play tackle. My hope would be that he's being looked at as a depth at OG, not a possible replacement at RT.
