Oldcat
When the real Brownies existed before they moved to B-More. The facsimile version of the team and the remnants of their derelict fan base from the previous 12 seasons...not so much. Continue to cue Amish.... |SF2|
Actually the Reds and Dodgers used to be a big rivalry...back when they were in the same division of course!
No shit! Fucking hated the Dodgers. Ron Cey, Lopes, Garvey, LaSorda....DEAD!!. Then the hate switched to the Braves. Now, I don't watch baseball so nothing but love. Fuck the Browns. Never have so many people, spoken so highly of an organization that has sucked for so long. Jimmy Brown hasn't played there in 40 years assholes. Even Art Modell hated Cleveland and Modell was a douche.

bengaled
I'm not from Ohio, and never lived there... I know this is the opener, and it's in the division so it'd be great to win it and get off to a good start. But really, does "Browns Week" really mean anything? Seriously... I live in Dallas, and games against Houston don't mean shit. I'm sure playing in different conferences means something, but the geography thing means nothing, in any sport.
in a word, yes. bengaled
Not as big as it once was. Both franchises have sucked. Paul and Modell are long gone. It was huge back in the day.
i think that's a big part of it. for those from that era, who lived all that, i believe it probably means more to us. winning against the current new franchise doesn't have quite the same feel as victories from back in the day, because it's been a fairly pathetic organization in it's 2nd go around. i think we'll have our hands full this year. they've looked good in the preseason. happyrid
I'm most worried about their rookie DT Phil Taylor. That guy has been really impressive in the preseason games I've seen. Exactly what a 1st round DT should look like. He is going to be a real challenge for Livings, Cook and Boling. Neutralizing him is the key to the game in my opinion. If we do, it opens up the run game and allows Andy a solid pocket as Cleveland's other pass rushers aren't anything special.
Atom
I'm pretty sure that geography has alot to do with rivalries. Alabama-Auburn, KY-Louisville, Texas-OKlahoma, Miami-Florida St, so on and so on. Announcers are Kevin Harlan and Solomon Wilcots Radio: WCKY-AM (ESPN 1530) and WEBN-FM (102.7). Preseason: Both teams were 1-3 Coaches: Marvin Lewis (60-69-1 overall) is in his ninth year with the Bengals and is 11-5 against the Browns. Pat Shurmur, who spent 12 seasons as an NFL assistant, makes his head coaching debut for Cleveland. Browns coaches are 4-8 when facing the Bengals for the first time. Series: Bengals lead 39-26 as each team won at home last year (Browns won 23-20 in Week 4 and Bengals 19-17 in Week 15). Bengals are 7-5 in games at Cleveland Browns Stadium since it opened in 1999 but Browns lead 22-15 in games played in Cleveland. THREE AND OUT Three interesting early angles for Sunday’s Bengals-Browns game: Whose better in the West Coast offense? The Browns are also going to a West Coast scheme under Shurmur, who is a Holmgren disciple. Colt McCoy threw four touchdowns during the preseason and only an interception while Andy Dalton has three interceptions and a touchdown. Tough first test for Boling: Fourth-round pick Clint Boling will start at right tackle in place of the suspended Bobbie Williams. All he has to do is line up against Browns rookie defensive tackle Phil Taylor, who had a field day the last time he was lined up against a rookie in the preseason game at Philadelphia a couple weeks ago.
