During ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown, former NFL receiver Keyshawn Johnson, believed to be a cousin of Chad Johnson, insisted that the Cincinnati Bengals are to blame for Chad’s predicament.

Keyshawn suggested that the Bengals don’t have a strict organization. Chad has played for the Patriots and went to camp with the Dolphins since playing for the Bengals from 2001 to 2010.

Middletown native Cris Carter also was critical of Chad during the show, but did not blame the Bengals as Keyshawn did.

Also, our own John Kiesewetter reported that VH1 canceled Chad’s reality show.

Look at his journey to the NFL. Chad is no different than many players. His mouth doesn't match his projected value to a team most likely not knocking on the door of the playoffs.

No different than when we shipped him off.

He had tons of red flags teams were willing to accept while among the top teir of wr. Fucking stupid to put it off on an organization that does the same things every other team does.

He went from junior college to junior college and almost never made it. Is the nfl in the business of rehabilitation? No. It's added benefit that might be available pending the coach and players willingness to accept.

saw this live last night. Basically said that the Bengals are to blame for who Chad is today (someone who would commit domestic violence), and pretty much said everything under the sun except the exact words "it's the Bengals fault he headbutted her".

Reiterated it another 2-3 times during the conversation and no one once bothered to correct him.

Consider the source. Keyshawn's lucky to have a job on TV - he's horrible, and comments like this don't help his cause. Bottom line, Chad's supposed to be a grown man - totally responsible for his actions. Blaming the Bengals... LOL.

BTW, this global warming thing? I say, damn you, Mike Brown!

If the Bengals were strict like Keyshawn is suggesting they should have been, it's entirely possible Chad would have washed out of the league quickly. Instead, they were able to help him turn his life around into a successful career. He never got in trouble as a member of the Bengals.... maybe the Patriots should be blamed for failing to support him and throwing him out like trash.

I kind of feel sorry for Chad. I suspect he'll turn out like so many other athletes who are broke and in quiet despair after their playing days. For me, the telling moment occurred during the Hard Knocks season where he and Marvin were chatting--and Chad was absolutely clueless about handling money.

That is because Keyshawn is an ass clown...

Chad's been gone from Cincy for 2 1/2 years now - and its Cincy's fault he acts like a fool in Miami???
You mean 1 year?

He was traded right before last season's training camp.

Chad would never have become the player he did here if we hadn't allowed his light to shine. The guy craves attention and can't cope when he isn't allowed to seek it. We understood that aspect about him and gave him a different set of rules compared to the other players. When Chad's production dropped off then Marvin got tired of the diva game and changed his team to reflect that new direction.

We traded Chad and others, ...and now look at the new Bengals, ...NO DIVAS ZONE!

Keyshawn doesn't realize it but he's just told every coach in the NFL that his "cousin" is high maintenance and not worth the time or risk.

Don't think for a minute that coaches aren't curious why he worked out here and fell off a cliff everywhere else, ...that's the biggest mystery to them.

Marvin has the key to Chad, ...and Marvin has moved on.

In reality, ...Marvin has been saddled with Mike Brown's headcases and experiments, ...those days are over.

fuck Keyshawn.. most of these talking heads on television use any excuse they can to bash the Bengals.
How in the hell can you say the way Chad acts is anyone's fault but his own?

Keyshawns quote reminds me of something that belongs in the J&D forum... why is it never a grown mans fault when (if) he breaks the law/makes bad decisions? Always the fault of some collective/company/team/society... never the man/womans own bad decision making.

Having said that, I have been tired of Chads act for a long time, but I also hate to see this happen to him and wonder if he just got set up...

I'm kind of with BAB on this one... I have a hard time as well believing she isn't behind this somehow- she is an absolute nutcase live-wire.
