Not a terrible hire actually. Derek freaking Anderson made a Pro Bowl when he was his OC. And the advanced stats had Carolina as the 4th and 11th best offense the last two seasons.

The one thing that doesn't make any sense is that they are reportedly switching back to a 3-4 defense. Makes no sense as they have no LBs and the D line is the strength of their D. They seem to dramatically change their scheme every few years and then have to totally rebuild their roster to try to fit to the new scheme. Makes no sense and would really set their D backwards. Although I guess if they could drafta guy like Jarvis Jones this year, maybe they could make it work quicker.

in lieu of what's reported, and i'll accept it as being fact. no, absolutely no, fuck that! i don't agree with any part of your argument and believe your thinking is entirely wrong. you have one responsibility, that's to do everything you can to be the best team you can be. it's a double negative when one of your best assets goes to a team within your division, and it only multiplies itself when that respected coordinator takes some of your eligible FA's with him, ones that would likely be retained by your club otherwise, which could very likely happen. pat him on the back, give him a kiss on the cheek, show your appreciation in any way you want, let him improve his lot in the coaching world throughout the NFL. but within the division it's an absolute, unconditional NO NO...not while he's under contract. there's history on this, and it makes damn good sense.

First thank god

Norv Turner to join Browns staff as offensive coordinator http://wp.me/p14QSB-6T4p

Now this is somewhat concerning, Norv sucks as a HC, but he has always gotten results as an OC

They have cap space, and some Ends they think think can convert to OLBs.

again, you DON'T let your coaches interview within the division while under contract. this is stupid as hell! ask yourselves this, how often have you seen this happen, where an asset on your staff becomes your immediate enemy and steals your players away? this as you're trying to annually improve your lot. damnit, i'll admit it.... i'm pissed off!
If they are interviewing for a head coaching job, I don't think you can stop it.

to each their own. If I was in their shoes I don't know that I could deny a good friend a chance to reach one of his dream goals. I'd prefer it not be in the division, but for a guy like Zimmer who has been shafted for years, I wouldn't deny him the chance. If he was getting a boatload of interviews, that would be another topic.

Plus, as kmw reminds, its not like the Bengals can actually say no. They can't deny cordinators the opportunities to interview for promotions. Other teams still have to formally ask permission though.

Yes, it'll be interesting to watch. Browns are a team to watch next year and beyond, for sure.

WOW. Zimmer must be the worst interviewee of all time. He didn't even get a chance to interview with the Browns and they shut him down. I picture him going into interviews like Step Brothers.

"Hello Miss Lady...I'm Jon, I'm Mike's OC"

You guys can joke all you want, but I really feel that [s]Chris Palmer[/s] [s]Butch Davis[/s] [s]Romeo Crennel[/s] [s]Eric Mangini[/s] [s]Pat Shurmur[/s] Rob Chudzinski is the guy to lead the Browns to a championship.

:D

Cleveland has now had four HCs since 2008, while the rest of the AFC North has had three over that period.[/background]
