No cash.  No folding money.  All transactions, including buying beers from roaming vendors, will be included.  Specifics from the article....

The following forms of payment will be accepted inside the stadium:

* Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard or Discover)
* Debit cards
* Apple Pay
* Google Pay (concessions only)
* Universal debit card purchased at cash-to-card kiosks located throughout the stadium.

Roaming food vendors will be equipped with card readers, the team said.

Not sure exactly how this will work.  Do they expecf that I'll just hand my phone to the folks between my seat and Tim the Beer Man standing in the aisle and expect them to pass it down and back?

Here in Columbus, the Crew rolled this out at their new soccer stadium. It's intended to be faster and covid-safer.  In practice it's neither. They use point-of-sale terminals that allow for tips so they hand you the terminal in hopes of a tip and if you do tip, you have to electronically sign to confirm the tip, which slows things down and means more stuff changing hands.

I want a pic of a beer vendor in the stands at PBS turning down a $20 bill cash tip.

Nats park has been this way. I hate it. I now dine and drink outside the park and don't care if I get there by the 3d inning. Besides, the Nats suck this year.

My biggest gripe. I'm a season ticket guy and find the Ballpark app a fucking nightmare. Casual fans can't navigate it for shit. Not that I'll never go back to an NFL game, biggest waste of money for all pro sports. But I hope the NFL gets the app right.

Best venue and value is DC United at Audi field.

Oh, and the serving staff gets fucked in the transactions.

I think Camden Yards is like this too (went to a game earlier this year).

There are times where the cell signal isn't the best at Nats Park, which would make the Ballpark app useless.

Audi Field allows you to buy a souvenir soda for 10 bucks but has fountain machines throughout the stadium to refill for free.  You can get your money's worth really quick.  There is not a bad seat at Audi Field.  The steps are steep as hell!

Until Covid hit and I HAD to use that app, I always just paid with my CC. Personally I've always hated passing cash and then getting change passed back but that's just me.

But I went to the Reds/Nats this year when things were open but not full capacity and had to use that app for touchless stuff and you're not wrong that app is a pain in the ass to use.

Can't say I've ever been to a United game TBH, but I'm partial to the Caps as far as best venue imho.

I don't buy anything at the stadium.

I also get paper, hard copy tickets not only because my antique cell phone

does not accept apps, but find them more convenient all the way around.

Looking at the posts on here I like them more and more.

I wonder how much longer those will be around.  My Aronoff Theater tickets were recently changed to ElectronicOnly.  Wifey is not happy since she used to put her paper tickets in a scrapbook.  I've heard of other venues going to all electronic ticketing too.  Kinda sucks from a collectors point of view.

I like to get paper airline tickets, since they are easy to obtain at the airport.

My lady friend ushers at the Aronoff.  Loves it.

They recently cancelled the mega September 18 Garth Brooks concert at PBS because of COVID concerns.

What a bite in the economy.  And Garth's bank account.

Masks now required at Riverbend... be interesting to see them try to enforce it with some of the Country and

aging Rock groups that play there.  Something about seeing a 40 year old man in a KISS t-shirt at the casino...

If PBS goes to all app, I will have to break down and get a updated cell gizmo.

I'm also wondering if they are going to try to slip in some sort of mask requirement now and because it looks

like a lot of big crowds and near sell outs this season.  I always go when the gates open but leaving is a crush.

x3.  Not to get off-topic and not necessarily aimed at TJ, but I'm amused by tracker-phobs and anti-vaxxers worried about chip implants all while holding their beloved cell phones and posting frenetically on social media.  Like it or not, the ability to track you has existed for quite some time without the need for conspiracy theories and a cost/manpower saving stadium app.

The Cleveland Indians are paperless tickets, which sucks for hubby because his cell phone is antiquated, too. His ticket to Browns training camp was paperless, too, but they told him he could print the ticket screen and they would let him in. He feels disenfranchised.

It is all about tracking people, but you know nobody on here will admit it or are to scared to say it.

lol. Everyone under 50 knows they’ve been being tracked endlessly since gmail, android, iOS and Facebook came into existence.

older folks think people don’t know. We know. And we don’t care enough to inconvenience the majority of our lives.

ps: I’m pretty sure PBS is paperless. Pretty sure I got many emails on this.

pss: where the fuck are you guys getting cash? Do you get paid in cash? Do you go to the bank to get it. I have found stadium crowd vendors useless being cash only. Where the fuck am I getting cash? I’m gonna make a special trip to the bank to buy a soda 30 feet closer to me?

tap my fucking credit card and let’s go. I need those Marriott points anyway.
