RIP Bill Tobin so you don’t need to keep Duke around any more. 1 Quote
TigerJ@w Posted December 2, 2024 Report Posted December 2, 2024 Will this effect stadium negotiations? Amazing how this is occurring like the last time during the stadium negotiations. The city/county should have the upper hand now. Quote
MichaelWeston Posted December 2, 2024 Report Posted December 2, 2024 Steps 1. Fire Anarumo let Bettcher coach the rest of the year. He has been a DC for the Giants and Cardinals. 2. Cut Stone, you don't want him back so just release him at this point 3. IR Hubbard. He is done here too 4. Cut Trenton Irwin, he's not doing anything to help us 5. Call up Justin Rogers-Tashawn Manning and Micah Abraham 6. Start Lee at C and Karras at LG 7. Get Manning some snaps at RG 8. Rotate in Ced Johnson at DE 9. Rotate Anderson-Anthony and Battle at Safety 10. Bench CTB and let Ivey and Newton start 3 Quote

Who's eligible to come off IR? Kirkland? Give them some real time OJT. 1 Quote
Cat Posted December 2, 2024 Report Posted December 2, 2024 Hand to God, I don't know how they address all the issues. BJ Hill gets no push. Kris Jenkins hasn't done much of anything. We don't have anyone doing anything opposite Trey. I saw Pratt chase the RB to the sideline and basically just fell over on his side like a toddler without making any contact. ADG had a terrible game. Secondary got spit-roasted again, but honestly I don't think Bates would have made a difference back there when the QB has such a clean pocket. Who is supposed to cover the middle of the field? OBJr - if he was still hurt, he shouldn't have been out there. If he wasn't, then that's just sad. Ford is as bad as Volson at LG. WR's - can they not get open? How many coverage sacks / hits does Burrow have to take? Or is Burrow not seeing anything, even then the protection holds? 1 Quote

One that can get them at least on the same page. These guys are NOT on the same page with each other or the coaches. No defense is this bad on personnel alone. 1 Quote

If not we'll continue to waste the Burrow years What has always been odd is - that is the way Paul Brown saw football - win the LOS. Yet, Mike Brown , somewhere along the way de-valued this and focused more on the elete positions. I think Marvin said at times that Mike liked his 'racehorses' but he wanted more strength (given the AFC Central). And the second oddity id Mike Brown, for decades said (many times) he wanted to emulate the Stealers organization yet did virtually nothing to actually accomplish that. The Stealers just had their 21st straight winning season. I hate them, but I respect thier organization. It is impossible to tell how much influence Mike Brown still has on things like the number of scouts. Does Duke Tobin want 5 more but knows it is a moot point asking for it? Or is Tobin complicit in the whole arrangement? Would the Blackburns actually change the front office structure once Mike Brown is incapacitated or passes on? 2 Quote
|BlackJesus| Posted December 2, 2024 Report Posted December 2, 2024 ^ Here's a scary thought, it might actually get worse when Mike dies, as his progeny are all corporate lawyers who see the team as a financial asset to produce profit, rather than a legacy project of prestige like most of the NFL owners who are independently rich outside of football. What if these are the 'glory days' before the complete "McKinsey / Bain Capital" corporate mindset takeover? 😒 1 Quote
sparky151 Posted December 2, 2024 Report Posted December 2, 2024 The Brown family has only known failure with the occasional bright season. Failure is what they are comfortable living with. They just want to "be competitive". The team does spend a fair amount (poorly) in the areas mandated by the CBA. But they don't spend much on scouting or coaching. Then wonder why the players don't perform. Quote
