Any consideration by anyone that Trey Brown might actually be qualified?

If he is getting looks from other teams than clearly, within league circles, he is qualified.

All our scouts may be qualified but having half as many qualified guys as the best teams have is still half the overall talent base.

I've listened to Trey Brown on podcasts. Seems more impressive than most of the other Bengals front office people who have done interviews. He might be the smartest person in the building. Trey's last name may be "Brown" yet he's not  a nepo baby. I just think he will really impress on job interviews.

Not knowing much about Trey, the thought of picking up 2 third-round picks sounds really, really good considering how many holes we need to try to fill.

Then again, if we swing & miss on those picks, it wouldn't matter how many we pick up as we lose a key FO guy.

Unless Trey was the one swinging & missing.

late to the party but

I really didn't think they had it in them.  Instead of celebrating people being fired I'm going to celebrate the front office sending a message.

Had to happen and damn if that's not a BIG wake up call for everyone still employed.  Maybe it was in the back of that equipment shed behind The Cart, IDK, but I guess the Bengals do have a hot seat?

Now comes the hard part: finding better coaches to replace them.

Jets are interviewing Trey Brown for GM. Should he be hired we get a 3rd round draft pick...maybe 2. I don't remember

Trey's interviews might just be Rooney rule compliance. I hope another team does hire him but that might strengthen Duke's grip on the GM job.

Murphy didn't make the splash we perceived.

He's been limited in the rotation behind Trey.

I won't call him a bust yet.

See how a new DC and Dline coach can help him improve.

Murphy was the backup to Ossai who was the backup to 1 leg Hubbard. It's fair to say Myles is a bust to this point in his career. He might have been passed by Cedric Johnson.

Murphy is not a bust. He made an impact outside of his sack numbers.

Random thoughts ...

- Lou had to go. Defense needed a house cleaning.

- Zac staying is the right call. The offense he called was cooking. No reason to start that over.

- I would love to see Marvin Lewis return for DC. Though that's unlikely.

- I'm ok with going after Saleh. As a bonus, it would be nice if he could somehow recruit Sauce eventually back to Cincinnati.

- I want those two 3rd rd picks. So I'm rooting for Trey's promotion.

Agree with T-Dub on the "I didn't think they had it in them".  I was shocked actually.  I really don't think the problems were all on these coaches, but a fresh start for everyone involved may be a good thing in the end.

Cautiously optimistic at this point.  Obviously depends on who we get to fill these positions.  Would be awesome to bring in a difference makers who eventually attract some notable free agents.  Maybe too much to expect, but I guess we'll see.

I didn't realize that applied to executives also. I also didn't know they could be traded for picks... I suppose I'm getting to be an old grump, but I don't like trading coaches, etc and shit. I don't have a good reason, just doesn't seem right to me.

What I like about Saleh and Bradley as potential DCs is their aggressive, attacking style.  Saleh actually was on Bradley’s defensive staff in Seattle when they won a SB during the legion of boom days. So they know what it’s like to play on the biggest stage, and play winning football.

That said, both guys will likely demand a lot of coin so not sure that’s gonna happen. Saleh is a consultant with GB and is tight with Matt LaFleur so not sure if it’s a lock that he’d be staying on in some capacity. I’m sure both guys want another HC shot but I’d guess it’s more likely for Saleh at this point. If he were able to build a strong D in Cincinnati and if the Bengals were able to have a great season in 2025, that would definitely help his case.

ITs not a trade, if you hire a coach or GM of color you get rewarded.

I like Salah as well

He went thru hell in NY .

He's been highly praised..

Lous exotic defense might have been to much on the younger backs.

Maybe Salah could "dummy" it down and let players play and not think so much.

Salah would be too expensive for the Bengals. (darned auto correct)

I thought I saw something on ESPN about teams potentially trading for the Vikes coach, but I could be wrong
